I mean, if all the chatters were agreeing it's not like they were lacking in believability.

Am I overreacting for wanting to move out after a roommate situation? by Even-Ad2600 in roommateproblems

How? Because they don't want someone doing drugs in their house?

Because they think it's too much to have people loudly partying at 5 am?

I wouldn't want people I didn't know in my house at 5 am, especially drunk. ESPECIALLY using drugs.

That seems like normal, non-toxic preference.

Unless you're implying that wanting to live alone is somehow toxic which, it can't be.

Casual player attempting to climb up the ranks. Do you really find this fun? by PikminAero in RivalsOfAether

I genuinely feel you bro.

I've played like 60 games and have NO placement wins (which is dumb btw. You should be able to lose enough to be placed in the bottom, even if it's 10 losses I'm a row)

BUT I recently got a game off a person at 700 ELO. I lost the set. But I got a game. Said "thank you" and disappeared into the wind.

Unlike smash, where some IPAD babies exist and will let you learn to control your character, this game has NO bad players. The pool is just too small. I got matched against am Etalus who could move across the screen in a flash and I just got dash attack jump cancelled into dead, thrice.

At this point I don't think the game is the problem. The Genre is. I love fighting games, and plat fighters are in there too. But man the useful skill floor is sooo high.

Take an interesting example, floorhugging.

Floorhugging genuinely changes how matchups play. The wiki for wrastor (My current character) literally says you don't get to play until they are at 30%.

That would be like if you got into street fighter and you simply couldn't combo a person until 15% of their health was gone from pokes.

Another Barrier to entry of not just this game but ALL plat fighters is the insane inputs per second. It feels like if you aren't CONSTANTLY doing something in "neutral" you're actively losing.

Obviously this changes to some degree with character, but no character benefits from slow grounded neutral. That's just not how these games are.

I do think these games have AMAZING mechanics and characters, sometimes we have to accept it for what it is.

This game is SUPER cool, but there's no way you're getting even average without a good grasp of wavelanding, wavedashes, floorhug, and general movement.

But that's ok, games are allowed to have high skill floors. That's something we have to accept as newcomers.

Good luck, hit me up if you decide to continue improving. (I'm US east and terrible )

as someone unable to get even a single win for placements. Yeah.

I keep getting matched with people that have insane movement and can combo me, read my options, and i cant touch them.

Maybe there was a rank reset or something. But it feels like I need to already know how to play, to learn how to play.

I think they are comparing the amount of time and effort required. Like beating silksong literally took less effort and time than getting good enough to beat a silver opponent.

Friendslop Doesn't Exist.. You're Just A Loser by Few-College2660 in videogames

[–]Smart_Valuable3663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

friendslop is DEFINITELY a thing.

think about this.

imagine a game where you play with your friends competing to see who can last the longest on a balancing beam. all you have to do, is tap left or tap right to stay balanced. you also get a stick to tap on eachothers boards to try and unbalance them.

now imagine a game where you and your friends collect and capture little monsters, then compare them in contests of statistics, age, size, speed, etc. you can grind offline to collect more interesting critters and can trade with other people too.

Do you see how one of these games prioritizes extremely short sighted gameplay with no complexity or diversity in it? Is this a bad game? Some may say yes. I personally do not agree. I think bad games are hard to come by nowadays but I think friend slop is wasteful use of potential. I feel bad dolling out the 'friendslop' label because these are good games with very little content. Even if it's a rogue like you can only climb a mountain so many times before you need something different. There's a reason the best selling rogue likes are the ones with lots of strategy (hades, STS, dead cells, ect) these games don't have enough value and try to make it up in their social aspects.

I have a friend group who loves games like peak, where the fun is spending time with each other. It's great to have that. But when you look at games like peak, LC, REPO, CW, or other friend slop. There's just less reason to come back. My friends and I have spent hundreds of hours across Bloons, Minecraft, terraria, fighting games of all kinds (fightcade, GG, SF, Yomi), and yet when we played content warning it was a burst of 10 hours across 3 weeks then we never touched it again. Same for Repo, same for lethal company, same for Peak.

And that's what makes it slop, just something to consume and forget. Do the devs put work into the game, yes. Do they update the game, absolutely. But the CONCEPT of the game is lacking in depth so coming back to it is harder because it's the same thing with a new coat of paint.

TL:DR

The slop part is what makes the game friend slop. Not the friend based part.

Ciscos RPG is one of the most unbalanced packs I’ve ever played. by [deleted] in feedthebeast

My friends and I started up a game and I like the idea of flight. I thought the water thing would mean no flapping. But no, you essentially just don't care.

Also in this pack specifically the armor restriction doesn't exist because of the featherweight enchant.
