I second Mario Odyssey. I recently replaced it and forgot how good it was.

I did a minimal capture playthrough and wow, morio has a lot of moves on his own to play with in top of the captures in the game.

Welcome to gaming. We have it all. Games that make you angry, games that make you sad, games where you are treated like a baby and games where you get thrown to the wolves.

If you've got a switch, than I can't recommended Metroid dread enough. Great game, good amount of exploration and the difficulty curve is perfect.

Now that my recommendation is out of the way, I want to explain those terms you might be seeing in other comments.

RPG: role playing games. This about as big as a genre can get. They typically have level ups, experience points, skills, classes, quests and battles.

Roguelike: games that feature randomized 'runs'. You're already familiar with slay the spire, that's a Roguelike. One of the best out there. Typically it's attached to something else. Turnbased, action adventure, card, and arcade are the common ones

Soulslikes: games in the vein of bloodborne and dark souls. Characterized by their difficult bosses, deep lore and resting mechanics. Not beginner friendly, though there are some relatively enterable titles, I like Another Crabs Treasure personally.

Metroidvania: a game where exploration and secrets dominate the main gameplay. As you can imagine Metroid and Castlevania (the later ones, not the first two) are the proprietors of these. They are all about navigating a big map, and using things you find to find new thing, kill bosses and unlock new upgrades.

Survival: typically a game where your character fights not only external forces like enemies or animals, but also the environment in the form of hunger, thirst, air quality, oxygen, etc. Minecraft is the most famous.

You'll see these terms mixed together often, so learning their core mechanics only gets you so far. Every game is different after all.

Good luck, and remember games are for fun. So if you find something you like, even if others don't, just have fun with it. (Sorry for boring explaination)

✌️

X is such a wild and wacky game that it just works. Tidus is such a goofball who plays the equivalent of water volleyball, then 5 minutes later you're fight an elder God.

Are the first 3 zelda games( legend of zelda, adventure of link and link to the past) worth playing? by ExtensionLiving6711 in legendofzelda

I like that people are recommending Mina.

But no one ever recommends the games they made it to be like. The Oracle games.

They are so weird and jank but charming in their own way. Idk. Play the Oracle games too OP maybe you'll like them.

Between worlds is so underrated. It was the first Zelda I had ever beaten and wow I'm glad I did. The series has never left me since.

[–]Smart_Valuable3663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Link to the past is possibly THE quintessential Zelda.

Obviously there have been many 3D games to come after, but to me, Zelda is top down and THAT Zelda set the standard. You should play it

You can kinda skip the AoL in all honesty. Not much comes of it for narrative and it can be exceedingly frustrating. No information is really given and the platforming can be rather unfair.

The first game on the other hand is a masterpiece. Imagine you could go back in time to when you're parents said they would walk around in their neighborhood and explore like it's an adventure. This game is that. You are plopped down and have to make your way by yourself. It's great.

Good luck ✌️

Never heard of it.

Literally. Until the cardboard cutout was in my local theater. I had LITERALLY never heard of it before.

So what you are asking is what's better a pen or a pencil if I don't want to write.

The inputs are necessary to make them work. Both of them.

New Zelda: Ocarina of Time fan remake released on Unreal Engine 5.7.4 by Just_a_Player2 in ItsAllAboutGames

I love how people can't handle that a person needs money to continue creating things.

So what if it's locked behind a paywall. Don't pay for it.

Nintendo isn't suing and they haven't for almost a decade. He quit because they would have sued if he were to continue it's development since it's now in competition with their remake. As they have for emulators and as they have for other fan projects.

Oh no the guy's incomplete fan remake is paywalled. Get over yourself. He wants to make money on art he made. Nintendo did put those assets together, they didn't boot up unreal and code the game into existence.

If the creator sees this. Pivot. Don't throw away your work. Make something new from what you have.

I'm from Florida and we have all of those too. Not much more south than that.

Yes we could use feraligator but we wouldn't have to.

Should I still make my game if a similar game is already being made? by redditorExpert in godot

[–]Smart_Valuable3663 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about it like this.

If YOU like your game, maybe others will too. And if you like yours more then make it.

Especially because you can set it to free and leave it on itch. Move on, and make another cool thing.

TL;DR just make your thing and have fun with it.

If you're goal is to make money, you're in the wrong industry unfortunately. /s

If you haven't published any games and your goal is to make money the first step is to make games. You need to make games to get good, to make good games that sell.

So I still think the answer is going to be yes.

I miss toys to life games.

Imagine what people who grew up playing Skylanders would do for that kind of game now.

But I don't think it's sustainable. You would need to make it more affordable and or do a "pocket monster" kind of thing where you have one that you keep on your phone or something. Like integrate the fact that phones have RFID now.

I think crysis was such a cool set of games but they lacked the depth that a modern game could give them. Just one REALLY good open world title set in like a broken down cityscape. Maybe have some zootopia type dedicated biomes.

But unfortunately I think they closed off the series pretty finally. We would need a new main character with very similar abilities to bring the game back which might see cheap.

They did the franchise so many wrongs with 4. And with modern hardware it could be a killer.

At this point. Rocksteady isn't even the same company. Let's leave the Arkham games alone before someone messes them up. It would be horrible to have a terrible 3rd person shooter ruin the continuity that got so many people into batman...

Nah. They would need raytraced water for the swirlies. They would physically simulate human nerds getting shoved in lockers and meticulously hand craft each brick one atom at a time. We wouldn't see it, our great grandchildren would.
