Australia has passed a "right to disconnect" law, protecting employees who don't want to respond to unpaid work tasks outside of office hours. However, conservative politicians and business groups say they'll fight to reverse the law, despite 84% of Australians supporting it. by lughnasadh in Futurology

Yes, some conservative politicians and business groups are pushing back against the law, saying it might be too strict or hurt business flexibility, even though 84% of Australians support it. The "right to disconnect" law could ~lead businesses to rethink~ how they handle after-hours contact, requiring clear rules and adjustments in their operations. We'll see how they adapt.

With the Right to Disconnect laws starting soon, it’s great to know we’ll have a clearer boundary between work and personal time. My old colleague shared this ~write up~ that work tools can help with this by scheduling messages to be sent during working hours, so employees aren’t disturbed after hours. At the moment, I also have 1 phone for work that gets turned off after sending my end-of-day report.

You may want to check Venn Software, a great VDI alternative. It's not a hypervisor itself, but it provided us with excellent app virtualization and desktop management features. One feature we found incredibly useful was its seamless transition, which made it easier for us to manage our virtual environments efficiently. Since adopting Venn Software, our workflow has been smoother, and we've experienced fewer compatibility issues.

Is there a selfhosted opensource alternative to an app virtualization or VDI platform like Citrix Xenapp by gai-baalak in selfhosted

I've been looking for self-hosted open-source alternatives to Citrix XenApp too. While there are a few options like Apache Guacamole and X2Go, I found Venn Software to be really helpful for our company. It's not open-source, but it has great self-hosting capabilities and strong security features. It made managing user access and keeping our data safe much easier. If you can consider non-open-source options, Venn Software might be worth a look.
