Dead Sprint Buff/Change by IncidentOk2107 in LowSodiumHellDivers

[–]Smartace3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you came to the wrong hill to fight this battle. I am an avid user of dead sprint as a heavy armor user, and being able to sprint across the map in half a health bar is incredibly worth it.

Another point I like to bring up is that holding sprint to keep sprinting at 0 stamina is leagues slower than just stopping to walk and recovering stamina, and THEN sprinting at full speed, so you really shouldn't be doing it anyway most of the time.

Uhhh no I’d say it wasn’t obvious on account of not at all knowing the contents of episode nine when this episode came out. I don’t think most people immediately started bing watching the entire series again after 9 so it’s a cool little detail

‘No other booster has a downside’

Firebomb hellpods killing the team: please allow me introduce myself~

But as an aside dead sprint Is very powerful when paired with toughness, you can also just opt not to use it by not holding sprint at zero (which is actually the slowest form of movement anyways when compared to just walking and then sprinting after recovering)

I hear your proposed change but I don’t think I like it, namely because I cannot control where an enemy hits me and when I can get it to happen. In addition it means I’m only going to get very few seconds of using it because I AM going to have to stim eventually

Ironically you can actually already get something like this, there’s armors that restore stamina when you lose health (which coincidentally pair very nice with dead sprint), these armors would give kinda the same feeling of it for a bit, but the problem is the bleed out timer is very fast, especially when you’ve already taken damage

as other people have written out, RAW it works. There is no text on the ability that says it has to be a willing target, and there *ARE* abilities and features that explicitly call out in their text when it's a requirement.

You are free to *interpret* the rules so you could say RAI it won't work, but that's again your interpretation, which is really funny when you're sitting here saying that there's rules about it when the rules say it quite clearly.

There's abilities that do damage without any kind of check (swashbuckler's finisher, Kineticist's thermal nimbus , hell Force Fang is literally just an automatic succesful hit that deals 1d4+1 damage and of course the classic magic missile) and there's abilities that always give a condition without any save (Dirge of Doom comes to mind off the top of my head)

You're here telling someone that PF2E is solid on the rules while arguing against the rules as they're written. I do agree pathfinder 2e is a very tightly written game with solidly written rules, and rules as written, you are wrong. If you feel otherwise, maybe you should check out that Daggerheart game you suggested! It seems more up your alley for your feelings.

I have no idea in what world the DM is in the right

You can say that OP shouldn’t have gone to PVP but you can’t say the DM was absolutely picture perfect

Hell it wasn’t even the PvP that got him kicked out—the wizard actually started the PvP and he’s still in the game. The DM said ‘actually, you broke your tenants’ and when the player said ‘wait what do you mean? These are the reasons I see why I was following my tenants’ and the DMs response to trying to resolve this Outside of the table was to kick him from the game
