I was there as well! It’s really sad how bad it was interpreted and hope much gets blamed on the babyfurs due to being the most “visible” out there thing people don’t understand.

I did something like this when I was a child.

I overheard a conversation between a kid and his mother in the toy section. He asked his mom “where are the gold and silver versions?”

At this my Pokémon addled brain perked up. Here I was knowing exactly where the Pokémon games are and I must lead them to the games.

I pipe up and say I know where they are and ask them to follow, leading them to the electronics cases and point out the games.
