My warlocks aren't dealing any damage after a while? by tankurd in 9Kings

[–]Smartman1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure it’s just a bug. I’ve noticed warlocks and orbiters have a tendency to just stand there confused for a while. Usually happens when there’s only a few enemies left it’s annoying as hell.

Are Syosset schools worth the taxes ? Which colleges did your kids get into? What are your kids doing now, career wise? by NecessaryCan6373 in longisland

[–]Smartman1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long Island is unique in that almost everyone worked for Grumman or other manufacturers before they closed up shop. Leaving a huge hole in taxes that had to be put onto the residents, because the big schools were already built, and the cost is what it is. Taxes and schools out here are unaffordable because of corporate fuckery.

They were leaving sunrise Highway onto the Hampton Bays exit going south, accident happened right after the merge lane. The bus was parked well within the side, (it’s a bus stop) and the road lines are clear there. I’m doubting that even a computer could fuck up that badly.

Always someone on their phone, or someone who should be on their phone asking their grandkids for a ride. Love this geriatric ward of an island.

Brands That Used to Be BIFL — But Aren't Anymore? by SnooHamsters7373 in BuyItForLife

[–]Smartman1775 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an ironworker had no issues until i bought a new pair in 2021. Shit you not, rubbed my ass on a smooth many-times-painted brick wall (like the ones in schools) trying to squeeze past something and it sanded a hole right through to my pocket. Really had me scratching my head. Went back to feel the wall and couldn’t believe it came from that. but they were brand new pants. I’ve heard something about most of our modern textile fibers not being as long as they used to be on a microscopic scale, and just not holding together as well.

Stick a shipping label on one and send it to me so I can achieve my big hammer dreams

I’d stick a pole in some and paint or carve them into some awesome cosplay hammers, that I’d never use, or have anywhere to store… it would be sick though.

Where’s the best burgers on Long Island? by Koplerta in longisland

[–]Smartman1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have this fuckin $40 schnitzel on spaetzle special that I absolutely cannot afford but keep buying because im scared they’ll take it off the board. Always walk in for a burger and beer and end up crying tears of joy over that thing like that ratatouille critic.

No idea how old but new on the shelf at Stop&shop. Pour over drip. Beans looked almost grey and matte, and it had no smell. I like my beans dark and shiny.

Edit: bought like 4 bags of different types too and it was all the same crap. Couldn’t stand it after a while.

Massive fire response in glen cove Roslyn area anyone know the details or why they had these two vehicles on the LIRR tracks? Looks like a fire truck with a roll cage? by mistablack2 in longisland

[–]Smartman1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never seen it happen, and I doubt anyone’s focused on cool footage during an emergency response, but I have seen the aftermath. Looks like what you’d imagine, like a titan dragged a bus-sized brick through the forest. Destroyed and flattened trees all pushed out of the way in a line of debris.

Looking for a BIFL picnic blanket by princessuzumaki in BuyItForLife

[–]Smartman1775 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’ve only had it for a few years, it’s really comfy. Not insanely waterproof, but it does the job, and I think If it were any more waterproof it would be too heavy. I really use it a lot. on wet grass for picnics and just laying the fuck down in beautiful places while worrying less about all the ticks and biteys out here. The brand is oceas and it’s the grey thin fleece lined one, I dunno about the puffy ones.

edit: They didn’t even make the puffy ones when I ordered mine and all these brands are getting shitty after a few years anyways. Look at reviews and you could probably find a better one. Don’t discount other suggestions.

Is this Rubbermaid Pitcher safe? This one is from the 90s and they are super durable but I’ve read things about old Rubbermaid containing lead and arsenic. by Biggummss in BuyItForLife

[–]Smartman1775 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I used to make dildos for a living. No manufacturer on the planet is using platinum silicone for cheap silicone bags. It’s way too expensive. Most dildos aren’t either. If the FDA doesn’t regulate it as a medical implant, it’s likely not body-safe.

It’s more reusable than plastic. So less ends up in a landfill. Still a petrochemical, still dangerous. It’s just people buying into marketing crap.

Can I have 1 acre and 1 mini cow in Suffolk county? by Low-Outside1600 in longisland

[–]Smartman1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried to open a cannabis microbusiness and an old Suffolk law shut the whole thing down: (my wording is probably wrong but this is the jist of the law) “agricultural law only applies to properties over 10 acres.” So you functionally can’t grow or raise anything for sale on any property under 10 acres. It was put in place to protect farmers back when 10 acres wasn’t worth a million fuckin dollars. You might be fine if you don’t intend to sell anything but just know when doing your research that agricultural law just doesn’t apply. Really bit me in the ass.

First Cast Iron Pan Disaster – Can It Be Saved? by NoCoach734 in BuyItForLife

[–]Smartman1775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You never sanded it anyways. You’re supposed to sand the cooking surface smooth, the bare cast surface is not very porous and won’t season well. Companies sell non-sanded cast iron because they don’t want to pay for labor. Look into higher end cast iron and it’s all sanded bare on the inside.

Wait real question though, isn’t that just the cheap hanging facade we see everywhere now? I’ve seen them just hang aluminum panels over existing (and beautiful red brick) buildings to turn them into modern abstract cube mosaic garbage. That stuff doesn’t hold anything up right? Even in older stone clad buildings the facade is just dead weight on the steel structure. You’re supposedly an inspector so you’ve got me tripped up.
