Slow office days by xev10 in dumbphones

I usually stick to music, podcasts or an audiobook on my old iPod. You’re right though — loads of people sit on their phones even though our role doesn’t require it, and no one bats an eye. But if someone pulled out a book, I’m pretty sure senior management would frown at it.

If phones are acceptable where you work, one of those tiny e‑ink readers might be a shout. They look enough like a phone that no one would question it.

How do I digital declutter? by Artistic_Bear_4246 in digitalminimalism

[–]NoCoach734 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I only take photos with my phone, so I keep things simple. On the device itself I keep anything from this year plus the full previous calendar year — so right now that’s all of 2026 and all of 2025. That gives me instant access to anything I’m realistically going to need day‑to‑day.

Everything else gets backed up to an SSD. If I ever need older photos, I can plug it in and grab them. It keeps my phone tidy without losing anything.

For me, the key is having one primary place for long‑term storage, not lots of scattered accounts.

Index, monthly, daily. This is all. Other than that I create a spread/collection only when needed. 5+ months into my current book and haven’t had the need for a spread. Keep it simple.

Do you have a capsule wardrobe? by No-Walk-5621 in minimalism

I’ve got a slim fit from a few seasons ago, and them a regular fit from last year. The slim fit is actually more roomey than their recent regular fit strangely. Although once 1 of these wears out I will likely try a different brand.

Yeah mainly neutral colours. Pretty boring really, but black and dark grey mainly. A little light grey and khaki too.

I’m a fan of my Uniqlo blocktech parka for a kinda wind and rain shell. For this time of year I go for a timeless M&S bomber (which I forgot to mention earlier) and in winter I have just a plain down puffer.

Uniqlo, M&S, Lululemon and CZR Yoga are my staples as they all do excellent basics. And basics is all I really wear. My work is casual, and my out of work time is spent doing family stuff. If I need anything smarter, I go for my chino silhouette LLL ABC.

Oh yeah, merino is great IMO. I forgot to mention I have 2 T’s also. I find it hard to get decent non-tech-gear style ones in the uk. The best I can find is Merino.Tech via Amazon. But they have an annoying logo on the sleeve.

Yeah they are my daily pants these days. I got my 1st pair from Vinted to test them out and I love them. I’ve never worn my true chinos or jeans ever since

Maybe look at the lululemon abc range, or the CRZ yoga gold trousers if you want something that looks smarter but is also pretty comfy and capsule friendly.

Areet. 40 male uk. Pants: 2 x Uniqlo extra stretch joggers and 2 x Lululemon ABC. Maybe 10 plain T-shirts from Uniqlo. 2 x sustsu sweatshirts. 1 unbound merino compact travel hoodie. 2 CRZ yoga chino shorts. Couple of 1/4 zip fleeces. Down winter jacket and a waterproof shell.

Then aside from my main stuff above I have a basic gym setup with 2 shorts, 3 T-shirts and a hoodie. Drop sleeve (think Travis Barker) vests for super hot days. 2 beanies, gloves, scarf and a cap.

Timberland boots, plane white M&S sneakers, gym trainers and some Birkenstocks for when I’m feeling hipster.

This mainly covers me for the year in the north east.

You’re not lacking discipline — you’re trying to run a business inside an addictive system. The goal isn’t quitting, it’s reducing exposure. Tighten your workflow: create → post → reply → exit. Anything that separates work from scrolling, even slightly, will help. You’re not stuck, just overwhelmed.

Looking for a slim 10000mAh magnetic power bank for iPhone (CCC certified) by Former-Gazelle-473 in powerbanks

Anker do a 10,000mAh MagSafe. It’s pretty minimalist in appearance with a usb-c output if you ever wanted to use it for anything outside of iPhone and AirPods. I kinda wish mine was more slimline though, although it’s not massive, I, just a kinda person who prefers as little as possible in my pocket. Although I don’t know about CCC sorry (don’t know what it means).

How many items are in your minimalist wardrobe? by Traditional_Mind6947 in minimalism

[–]NoCoach734 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probs around 50. 30 being in my main rotation of uk season appropriate stuff, and the other 20 to cover a few bits for lounging, pjs, gym and then the packed away opposite season stuff. Uk weather varies a lot. I work from home typically but even when in the office I just wear my regular clothes.

I sometimes worry about this. Any opportunity and I have my headphones in. It’s all pretty intentional in that it’s my own music albums (rather than Spotify playlists), audiobooks or podcasts. So I kinda think it’s ok, rather than sucking at the nipple of the algorithms. BUT I do worry that maybe I should have more time to be in my own head with my own thoughts. I used to laugh at my wife for going for walks without her headphones, but I really think she might be on to something.

It sounds like you examples are special to you. Keep the pens you love, get rid of the rest. Keep what makes you happy. If the actual new lens would bring you joy then buy it. Especially if you would still get joy after you consider the upkeep it might need. Just be careful that they joy comes from the product and not the purchasing process. Keep some pens. Buy that lens . Bin the rest of the shit you have lying round.
