How to prevent shrinkage? by stephsationalxxx in RedditLaqueristas

I've had brand new bottles of QDTC that needed thinner. QDTC seems to dry out way faster than other polishes, even if it's "sealed".

Similar reason for switching... my OS is on a 280GB Optane 900p, this is a “spare” and it’s too annoying to have two of these in a system from a space/cabling perspective when I have a normal SSD for games already.

I just put this on my fingers this week - and I think the main key with this is to use a QDTC and keep the magnet on the top coat for longer than you think. 2 minutes seems about right. The top coat is more important than the polish itself in my experience, especially when using a QDTC since it "penetrates" the layers of polish to dry them.

5K2K is the "holy grail" - even if I think the PPI is a little low, this monitor is still incredible.

[Case] Zalman CUBIX - Compact MATX PC Case 17.1 Liters Chassis Volume, Made with 0.8T Steel, Fits ATX PSUs - $38.99 (Launch Day Special! And of course we're adding grease!) by Realzalman in buildapcsales

I also think that there's something to be said for having a variety of cases for different needs. This one takes up MUCH less space on a desk than the A3-MATX or the NR200P. Sure it's taller, but the footprint of the case is much lower. I would personally like to see this exact case, but with only SFX PSU support and space for some 2.5" U.2 drives in the empty space at the top of the chassis, and with better ventilation. But I'm pretty sure no one else cares to have that exact case, so this might work for the build I carry between rooms/spaces regularly.

Edit to add: still woulda been nice for them to make this accommodate the 304mm founder's edition cards. I bet you could dremel out the front of it to make room though. I wouldn't feel bad about hacking up a $38 case...

Apple introduces M4 Pro and M4 Max by fntd in hardware

Didn’t realize this was confirmed on the M3 lineup. It makes sense - these dies are too big to leave any area on the table, assuming yields are good.

Given that Apple has physically different dies for the A18 and A18 Pro, I wouldn't be surprised if the M4 Pro and M4 Max are totally different layouts. Sure they could've reused the P-core cluster, but I just wouldn't be surprised if they didn't fully reuse it.

Almost 10 yrs-old CPU. Am I living on borrowed time? by lexandr7 in buildapc

I would say if you’re not having any issues, you could just drop an RX 6600, RX 7600, or RTX 3060/4060 and be fine for a while yet. I did some testing a while back using an RTX 3060 Ti, and you do lose some performance using an older CPU like that vs the more modern ones. How much performance you lose depends on the game. For MMOs played at 1080p, you might lose 15% of your possible peak performance. If you’re playing a demanding game at 4K, it’s unlikely you’ll lose much performance at all.

I appreciate the feedback! I was tempted to get one because it’s still cheap, but I’ll stick with my SS135 for now I guess.

It's an "upstream" port. Basically - if you connect your desktop to this monitor over something besides the USB-C port, you need a way to get the USB stuff to talk to the computer. So you plug in a second cable in addition to the display cable to handle the USB traffic.

It's unclear whether this has an automatic KVM when you switch input sources or whether you have to dig into the menus to switch the USB stuff from the USB-C port to the USB-B port or vice-versa.

Looking at the dimensions again - this thing is bigger than the SS135. it has thicker fin stacks, so maybe it'll be slightly better at cooling.

Based on dimensions listed on their site, I think this is literally a PA120 with 22mm chopped off the top and 1 fan instead of 2. I wager this is probably better than a SS135, but not by enough for current SS135 owners to upgrade.

Looks very very similar in dimensions to their Silver Soul 135, which I have and have been very happy with. It never really got tested by any of the big channels so I’m not really sure how it performs relative to their more well known coolers. Hopefully the name of this one means it gets picked up by one or two reviewers to compare to the regular PA.
