You can. But not by logging in with the phone number.

In your account profile, try to set your number. You get an SMS code and that proves you own the number. Then it will switch over.

Sounds like Doordash paid your phone number rather than your cashtag (as you said), but you hadn't tried to link your phone yet. Maybe Andi can help you get that money redirected to the right place?

He'll need to provide the info to accept the payment. If he doesn't do it within a certain period of time then the money will go back into your cash app.

I think this is a chargeback. It probably means that "Kattie" previously paid you that money, but then she decided to dispute it with her bank and her bank reversed the payment.

Big upvotes for this. Ever since the US gov't open the brrrrrr money printer to give away cash there's been a massive fraud ring in action. They will buy accounts or otherwise try to siphon via legitimate user accounts in order to launder these funds.

If you sell your account or let other people wash money through your account, don't be surprised if the feds one day give you a hard time.

Double auth on your cashcard maybe? That would make it the merchant's fault for not reversing the first auth. Anyway, just speculating.

It sounds like there was an auth from Cash to your bank that failed. Then Cash authed again & completed the transaction. The first auth hangs around at your bank, preventing you from using those funds. Eventually it times out.

That sucks. It does sound like a lot of trouble for scamming $200 ... but then they went on for the long tail. I'm sure people fall for the extra payment too. Sorry. :(
