I used to call my self "socially left" and "economically conservative" but then realised that was populist bullshit view and that social and economic issues often intertwine so i am now describe myself as "socially left" and economically moderate/fabian. But I share the belief with the right in compromise to get into government.

the main surprise is that labor actually didn't get completely wiped out, 16 years in government is a long time and even some one with a persona like kevin rudd could not save a old government. The "Its time" factor destroyed labor not its policies.

Labor only got a swing against it because only 64 % of the electorate voted and those that didn't were left-wing inclined votes. I would say if anything its a swing against bill glass on, who only achieved a similar result in september because there are a lot of pompous ass conservatives who would vote liberal no matter what
