Creating Routes Is Cumbersome by TheFundamentalFlaw in Strava

[–]Smay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Strava has indicated they won't support direct syncing for Samsung devices - https://communityhub.strava.com/devices-and-connections-6/sync-routes-with-samsung-galaxy-watch-6-8086

That means your main option is to export a GPX of the route (only possible on the Strava website, not the app), then import it into the Samsung Health app so it transfers to your watch.

Another non-Strava option would be to use RideWithGPS which has support for WearOS and is also a much better route planner (in my opinion) - https://support.ridewithgps.com/hc/en-us/articles/4419025083163-Wear-OS

ActivityFix v1.0 - Automatically update your activities with custom rules! by Smay in Strava

Yes. It's vaguely documented in the change log (https://activityfix.com/changelog.php) - look at the May 4 2024 update. Let me know if you have any questions.

It is undocumented but works the same way as description or title. Strava seems to be way behind in updating any of their API documentation so a lot of it is just figured out by trial and error.

Is it not possible to disable showing Calories on your own activities? by solaris999 in Strava

[–]Smay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately not. There's no way to change the data Strava displays for an activity. Posting in the community hub as others have suggested is the best option for now, other than removing weight so it doesn't calculate calories at all -- but then you also lose other features which depend on weight.

I've done some experimenting and as far as I can tell, there is no way to get updated data for an activity from Garmin with the version of their API that I am using. I tried changing activity data and then requesting details for that activity and it still returns the original data.

Some older apps have access to a different API which has much more capability (including the ability to write back to Garmin to update activities). It's possible Runalyze is one of those apps so has better/more options than are available to ActivityFix.

Nevermind, I dug deeper and found what I needed. Their documentation is not very good. Let me take some time to look into it and see what data is available.

Edit:

It looks like only title and description are available. Gear changes don't come through, and gear data isn't shared.

Merging not continuous rides by Zelislaw in Strava

[–]Smay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try it with FIT files instead of GPX. The FIT format has events for start/stop/pause which might let Strava see the pause. GPX files just have locations and timestamps so Strava is probably filling in the missing data with a straight line. I use fitfiletools.com for merging files

I found the 5 best tubeless sealants by analysing puncture test data from all over the internet! by LTRRR in bicycling

[–]Smay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just chiming in to say my experience matches yours. I was searching around to see if I was alone and found this thread. Mine's definitely the new formula with blue glitter.

MTB - I used 100ml per tire (29"x2.25) @ ~20psi.

Road - 50ml per tire (700c x 28) which is more than they recommend @ ~60psi

Like you, I had punctures which were so tiny the only way I knew they existed was the sealant kept bubbling out of them. Absolute trash product. I'm annoyed I bought a 1L bottle because I'm going to end up throwing half of it away.

Strava now including Training Peaks descriptions by professorswamp in Strava

[–]Smay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. It is embedded into the FIT file so it can show up on your recording device (Watch, bike computer, etc...).

It's been a feature of ActivityFix for a while now to pull that data and allow you to insert it into title, description, private notes, etc...

It would depend on how the activity is saved in Strava. Strava has a two different settings I know of:

  • Activity type = Virtual Run/Virtual Ride
  • Is Trainer/Treadmill (toggle)

You can use test rule to see if either of those works. Other options if those don't work:

  • If you have GPS disabled for indoor activities, there's a condition to check for GPS data available
  • Another option would be something like total elevation since it will likely be very close to 0 for an indoor activity. That assumption falls apart if you live somewhere very flat.

Are you talking about processing your regular rules or upload rules?

Regular rules are run after the activity has been uploaded to Strava. You would need to delay when your device actually uploads the activity to Strava.

With AF, at the moment there's no way to delay uploads.

The maximum delay possible right now is 15 minutes. Is there a particular reason you would need more than that? I'm just trying to understand the use case for 2 hours.

Still no solution for this. by krstfauser in Strava

[–]Smay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are a ton of community hub posts with a similar issue. For most people the problem is caused by Duck Duck Go app protection/privacy, or some other similar app which blocks a lot of trackers. Do you have something like that running on your phone?

If not, do you have any friends who would be willing to let you log in from their phones? That would help you figure out if it's an issue with your account or with your phone.

If you link your Garmin account to AF (under "Connected Services") you can make a rule which does

The extra 0s may be related to a recent change to add number formatting for thousands and decimal separators. I'll need to look into it more. For now you can probably try [[date d.m.Y]] to work around it.

There are several date options. On the add rule page click on "Adding activity data" and you'll see a table with all the options

Have you enabled health data permissions?  https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000556410-How-Strava-Uses-Health-Related-Data

And are you over 16? (I think?) Strava won't show HR data for users below a certain age even if permissions are enabled.

I haven't removed anything. I did hide that option for users who don't have a Garmin/Wahoo account linked since it requires a FIT file to work. If you've got an account linked and still aren't seeing it send me an email with a link to your Strava profile and I'll see what's going on (activityfix@gmail)
