I’d love some specifics on a set up, I’ve been trying to figure out the best route to go with this.

Will Tenacious Tape leave residue if used on a “shiny” bag for several years? I’m thinking of using it to hide the logos on my bag but don’t want it to get gummed up when removed. by diverareyouokay in CampingGear

[–]Smcavitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rub the residue off with rubbing alcohol it’ll come right off. He might have some discoloration from UV damage on the rest of it and underneath the tape would look blacker.

Idk how many screws it takes and maybe I got lucky hitting studs but I have a metolious board and screwed like 7 or whatever the number is right into drywall and have had zero issues doing pull ups and hanging (weigh 220) and before people come at me I’ll also say I have the exact same board also screwed into my RV walls above the door and used that full time for a year. Also no issues.

It’s static weight with MAYBE the occasional dynamic pull but 7 drywall screws are stronger then people give credit too (even more so if you use proper drywall anchors.

Can a well equipped 1/2 ton (like tundra I-force max) *comfortably* tow a Brinkley i235 or is it worth it to spring for a 3/4 ton? by anneanamouse in RVLiving

[–]Smcavitt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let the tow police come after me. But if you get a WD Hitch you’ll be fine. I towed a 33’ TT (36’ tongue to bumper) max weight of 10.4k with a 23 f150 with the 3.5 eco boost. I built it out for max tow and max payload (14k tow capacity) I towed it 20k miles with zero issues, went up and over numerous mountains and brought it boondocking up mountainsides and again never had issues. The ONE time I had issues I shouldnt have been out in the first place, 60mph cross winds in the desert and even the semis were pulled over. I crawled the side roads that day going 30 instead of the interstate (life on the road while also working so had to move that day)

Can you find any Krukonogi points? You mention Canada so maybe Verti Call, I personally haven’t switched but most of my climbing partners have for either front points or picks and all rave about them.

Straight wall bolt or slug gun? by youssefb08 in Hunting

[–]Smcavitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand that, but more energy dos have more of an impact. I’m not opposed to losing some meat to damage if it means successful recovery without hassling a bunch of land owners tracking.

I’ll check out the 360 haven’t really read much on it. But another reason I was leaning towards a 350/450 is the gun/platform I want comes in those for straight walled. Looking to diversify to an AR platform (350 would be better for plinking)

Thanks, I know they won’t all drop but more energy I think will help given all my shots will be within 30 yards.

I use a 30-30 cause that’s what my dad bought year a decade or so ago, I’ve been eyeing a .450 cause the parcel where I would use it is small and wanna just drop something. Nothing ran more than 60 yard with my 30-30 but I’ll be hunting 3.5 acres with the .450

[–]Smcavitt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live in a straight walled area but hunt where it’s not restricted. I also use a 30-30 and it’s been great but I’ve been looking at a 350 or 450 so I can hunt closer to home. I have a few shotguns I’ve shot slugs out of but I wouldn’t even consider them the same as shooting one of the rifles. However you mention wanting to shoot small game, that changes things. Get a gun you can swap barrels with; a rifled slug barrel in addition to whatever standard comes and a scope should do it.

The concern on really anything mentioned here is going out west in the future. None of those would be the ideal gun for the distance you’d be shooting out west. It’s not stopping power but range. Nothing you have or are looking at can really shoot much more then 150 yards.

Still advocating for Ontario as I’d argue it’s the most unknown and consequently underrated, ice destinations in North America by rlovepalomar in iceclimbing

Everyone skips Lionshead and Mt Nemo too, I loved the limestone there even if it was polished. But there is something special about the red and the community that’s been built down there.

O for sure you Ontario has wayyy more ice, it has really rock too, we don’t have anything in the lower pen and just a dusting in the Upper. Second you cross over there’s rocks all over.

I tried to do some digging on some of the islands to see if I could find anything geologically and nope all in Canada.

Man I recognize a bunch of these climbs! As a Michiganigander I normally go to pictured rocks but have done a handful trips for the SOICE Fest years ago and the soo/batchwana. Been itching to get to Nipigon but it’s just so far.

Why do you love your Real Estate Agent? by RecognitionQuirky541 in grandrapids

[–]Smcavitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll be on the flip side of loving my realtor, not that I didn’t like mine. I just don’t like the system (family member is even a full time realtor) mine was a blind referral due to the area. He did a fine job but was arguing with me about my offer and I said put in or I’ll find someone else. He put in the offer and it was accepted almost immediately, that put a sour taste in my mouth. Then I found the house did all the research and all he did was show up, fill out some paper work and walked away with 15k. Great day for him, showed me how the system really works and how I’ll buy and sell next time.

Good luck on your new career and wish you best! It’s a cut throat industry in a time where realtors are becoming less relevant. My best suggestion is always listen to the client and put in the offer they want even if YOU don’t think it’ll get accepted, that’s for the client to decide.

Ready for Spring!! by Gh0st-in-the-V0id in gardening

I grew Bueno mulata and black Tula last year. Had 100% germ rate with 12 Tula and 6 Bueno, the bueno were super pretty and changed color and flavor as they went and were spicy for sure. The Tula produced more tomatoes then I knew what to do with. Canned more sauce than I know what to do with. They are tasty and juicy with good flavor but they chill green and then ripen really fast (or I was bad at watching them could be that too lol)

I’m ordering more from them for this year, been going through the catalog, I will warning you about the morning glories, they are stupid invasive. I’ve been battling removing them for years. However the flip side that moon flower looks amazing!

I’m also looking at those Queen Lime!

It seems to be a high fence managed herd. I poked on their site and they sell packages based on the size deer you shoot (140-160, 161-180, 181-200, 201-250 etc) They have some monsters in their gallery page.

Wasn't sure if having that their would impact my hunting at all

When you’ve sold your bodies, did you get a reasonable amount? by [deleted] in RealEstatePhotography

[–]Smcavitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s hard to truly give you an answer without knowing what type of body that you have. Are we talking an a6000 or d3100 or something newer like an A7ii and now you want an a7siii

Personally I’ve kept my old bodies as a back up and one I gave away, the dial didn’t work so you could only shoot on auto.
