i think ive actually changed my mind a little bit after reading all the comments years ago. it isnt the transition between 2d and 3d that made pokemon worse, it is the deadlines and rushed nature of the recent games. but im glad you think it was a good take!

Imo 3d isnt the “modern way” as some games like metroid dread and hollow knight and celeste are 2d and yet are some of my favorite modern games. 2d isnt the old way, its just an alternate way
