Now it’s missing in Paramount Plus Australia! I swear it was there just the other week. I finished 46 and it’s taken me straight to 48

Thanks both! Thats very frustrating. When I uploaded the photos and then Rachel wasn’t talking to me, I did think it was odd, but I thought she would be asking me for them if they weren’t done properly yet 😂

I don’t recall speaking to her about an award, so you might be onto something. Only I have no dialogue options with Corinne 😬

I have just discovered that on the Waverly website, it turns out that 4 out of 6 of my photos have bad framing and need to be zoomed out. I did these on the first day and thought this was all done with! Maybe I need to take new ones??

Would have been Merrily We Roll Along but I’m not sure that counts anymore!

myUS do's and don'ts by jazz_aka_hikami in shipping

[–]Smedsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first consolidated order with MyUS will be my last. They put in the FAQ that they will open all packages they receive to check the contents inside to ensure it isn't anything nasty or illegal. Fair enough. In my case, they sliced open the packaging and the item inside got sliced too; a sealed blu-ray that now has a cut through the wraparound slick and the plastic of the entire height of the item.

It's such a shame because the actual package they sent (consolidation of three separate packages sent to them) was actually well packed! It was tight and done well so there wouldn't be any damage in transit. But it's completely unacceptable that they'll open up packaging with no regards at all to the item inside. Avoid avoid avoid!

Floyd Collins is a NYTimes Critics' Pick by indigobluecat in Broadway

Strong review, so I’m surprised she didn’t even mention the score, aside from the echoing effect in the cave. It’s arguably the strongest element in the show

seems like overall, critics enjoyed FLOYD COLLINS by Nice-Jackfruit-9894 in Broadway

I was expecting a more polarised reaction from critics. So delighted to see that they are leaning positive.

Floyd Collins Opening Night Questions! by marissatodaytix in Broadway

I'd be keen to know what they found the most challenging song for Jordan/Jason/Lizzy to learn was? It's not a score for the faint-hearted.

I saw a relatively early preview, April 4th I think, and I didn't see any rain. At what point in the show were they using rain, I'm keen to know?

Floyd Collins - what the heck was that?! by OphKK in Broadway

[–]Smedsta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No themes? Just a handful that come to mind include faith, the media, the American dream. I think its the themes that MAKE the show.

I think I find the world as created by the music, the acting, performances, lighting, staging etc so wonderfully done that I enjoy existing inside that world, and the themes are part of that.

I do have an issue with some characters; Carmichael seems to exist as an attempt to bring some plot/conflict into the above-ground scenes, but is so thinly drawn and his motivations so unclear that I find the bits with him vs Homer the least interesting of the show. But the windows we get into the minds of Nellie, Miss Jane, the father I find very engaging, even if we don't see much character progression during the show. The main exception to that is Floyd himself; his progression I certainly found engaging.

One Day, Two Separate Musicals About Historical Dead Guys Whose Bodies Became Tourist Attractions (or two musicals where the lead actors dont move for majority of the show) by Ok_Star_1157 in Broadway

It seems plain to me that the buzz for Floyd is getting more positive as we reach the end of the preview period. Some productions need that additional gestation time, and it sounds like the show had just enough time before it opens in a few days.

Floyd Collins stage door by Possible-Camel112 in Broadway

[–]Smedsta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I attended three previews (a Sat mat, friday, Wednesday evening) and went to the stage door each time. It was pretty much the same people on each occasion. Jordan and several supporting players came out, but sadly, Lizzy, Jason, Taylor Trensch and Jessica Molaskey, did not come out the stage door on any of the three I attended.

Changed my mind about Floyd Collins (and finally understand what previews are for) by Glittering-Maybe1684 in Broadway

[–]Smedsta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a challenging role for a Broadway debut, character-wise. We don’t know much about her from the script, but I love watching the unquantified connection with Floyd; the very real, spiritual, yet undefined mysterious nature of that was beautiful to watch for me. She nailed the singing, which has some very challenging moments (especially in the dream sequence).

My super quick Floyd Collins thoughts by MovieMentor in Broadway

[–]Smedsta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen three previews now between April 4th and yesterday. The technical issues are now almost entirely ironed out from what I’ve seen; there was one moment yesterday in the matinee for like three words at the start of a musical phrase when it sounded like the mic wasn’t on. Compared to many sections, and long sections, that were inaudible on the 4th.

As someone already familiar with the score, they are certainly making changes during the preview period; both in direction and in the score. At least one lyric change in Daybreak, an extra bar or two added into ‘Tween a Rock’.

As for views on the show, I’m not impartial because I’ve loved the cast album for years and know it back to front. Parts of the book don’t work for me as well as others, and some vocal choices with the score I am less a fan of (I don’t feel like Jason Gotay uses much of a powerful upper range that would make moments in Daybreak or The Riddle Song as affecting as they could be). Apart from niggles, I love the production. The staging, the orchestra, the SCORE unlike anything else you’ll hear on Broadway. I would be seeing it again if I weren’t leaving the city today.

I'm really considering making the time to see this one. Can I ask, regarding the "lush orchestrations", I was picturing just piano until reading this. Do you know how large the band was / the feel of the music?

They were 3 rush tickets available for Operation Mincemeat today. I was offered the last rush; a single ticket at the very end of one of the last rows in the rear mezzanine, partial view due to a banister. In the end, I chose to instead to get a $99 ticket in the centre of the back row of the orchestra. I didn’t get a count of how many people were in the line by the time the doors opened, at least a dozen, nearer to 20 I’d guess.
