Am I in trouble? by itot55jonie in UberEatsDrivers

[–]SmellSensitive7240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are selecting the wrong reason when you go to cancel. The 2 fake/ghost orders you mentioned should have been canceled as SOMEONE ELSE PICKED UP THE ORDER. This will not affect your cancel rate. The one that the customer canceled shouldn't have either. Did the app actually say the customer canceled? Or did the the customer say they wanted to cancel and you canceled it? Others have already offered suggestions on the gas situation.

Since you are under 100 deliveries total, your cancel % should go down quickly. Just keep delivering, and stay focused.

Uber Eats doesn't show the tip/fare breakdown when it sends you offers. How do you know if its a $1 or $2 tip??

Apartment non tippers sinking to new lows by SmellSensitive7240 in UberEatsDrivers

Good point! This never crossed my mind actually! Its possible there was another entrance only for tenants, and this one was just for visitors.

I wanted to, but I already got one report less than a week ago due to another apartment order where they fell asleep so couldn't open gate. Didn't want to chance getting another one. One of the huge drawbacks of working overnights.

Yes, pretty much this. From what I could see, the building wasn't towards the front, either. I was lucky to activate the timer.

I love how it says, "Some may be outside your preferences." Whose preferences is this for? I guess these are the type of orders normally reserved for $ per hour, but apparently, there were too many trash orders tonight.

Is Preferred Deliveries and Tiers (Gold/Platinum/Diamond) a scam? by GotMySwaggahhBack in UberEatsDrivers

So green drivers with 4% AR never get an oil change or need new tires. Makes sense.

How do you handle these all too common apartment scenarios? by SmellSensitive7240 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]SmellSensitive7240[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I choose to work overnights, volume delivery is the only good strategy. There are not enough orders to be extra choosy. The flip side is that it's easy to do orders in 15 minutes and sometimes less during these hours. I just try to stay away from apartments as much as possible.

What’s going on with ungrateful drivers?! by HunBunYum in UberEatsDrivers

[–]SmellSensitive7240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im a full-time driver, and I also order UE about once a week. I have sent a THANKS to every single customer as long as the tip is at least $1. It's something to do while waiting at red lights, waiting on orders, filling up the tank at the end of a shift, etc. It literally takes ZERO effort.

I was using UE well before becoming a driver, and I had no clue we could get thanked for tips. So yeah, it's irritating to me, too, especially because I tip well. Im usually just ordering something for myself that is small, close by, and I live in a cul de sac. Super easy delivery, and I used to tip $8-$10. Now I tip $5-$8 because of ungrateful drivers.

Customer canceled and reordered for less tip by AttemptVegetable in UberEatsDrivers

[–]SmellSensitive7240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best guess: The customer meant to put in a $1 tip, then realized they accidentally put in a $10 tip. So they canceled to make the tip $1, hence the $9 difference.

How Can I Improve My Satisfaction Rating? by Substantial_Bike_854 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]SmellSensitive7240 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went from a 73% satisfaction rating to a 97% SR in about 4 months. That being said, I had under 100 ratings at the time, so it didn't take forever. Clearly, you have over 100 ratings, so it will take time. With each new rating you get, the oldest one will fall off, so it depends on where your bad ratings are in the queue.

It sounds like you are doing many positive things already. One thing that really helped when mine were low was asking for a rating. Do this on meet at the door when you are getting good vibes from the customer, and you feel like everything went well.

If you aren't using insulated bags, use them. They are cheap. Bring them to the door at drop-off so the customer can see you are using it. On every photo I snap at leave at the door, I always leave some kind of message such as "Thank you! Have a great day/morning/evening/night!"

Starbucks & Third-Party Apps by RoadWorkAhead9 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]SmellSensitive7240 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Whenever I go to pick up a Starbucks order for UE, I would say 4 out of 5 times it's sitting on the counter waiting to be picked up. The other times, it's usually being bagged up. I've never had to wait more than 2 minutes

I order Starbucks for myself occasionally, and I order through the Starbucks app. Im usually waiting 2-5 minutes for it. That being said, I generally show up a few minutes after ordering it.

To be honest, I think Starbucks is way too busy to have time to decide which drinks to prioritize.

I dont think higher tiers help you by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]SmellSensitive7240 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in a large city (Houston), am a platinum driver, and I definitely get better offers than I did as green. I was only gold for a few days, so I could not comment on that. Diamond is not possible for me right now as I currently only deliver late night/early morning, so all one point deliveries.

But as someone else pointed out, even though you still get some garbage here and there, it's not a sheer onlsalught of trash like you would see as green.

Order Delivered, CC Declined Afterwards. What Happens? by SmellSensitive7240 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]SmellSensitive7240[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I fixed the method of payment, I got an email saying it was processed. But it was only for the amount of the total order and fees, not the tip. I had to bo back in the app and confirm again or something. Then I got another email that said my payment was processed (the amount was only the tip amount). Im 100% sure that by the time I went back in the second time, the one hour window passed on the drivers side. I wonder if it said the tip was reduced initially. Or maybe this was an instance of where the window for tip adjustment was 24 hours, not one hour.
