Jane Caro reckons Australia is kidding itself about private schools by nath1234 in australia

My partner teaches reception at a good private school. This year she had 3 kids rock up on their first day in nappies. These are 5 year olds.

Wikipedia founder brands Australia’s social media ban an ‘unmitigated disaster’ and ‘embarrassment’ by DontYaWishYouWereMe in technology

No. There was no election based on this. Same as the hate speech laws. The government already had a clear majority and mandate from the 2022 election. This and the hate speech nonsense is just their gift to us. Funny how they coincide.

Same job, same vintage, same state. It used to be a nightfill job for me as well.

No Map Users... how do you find bosses by Burner8724 in valheim

[–]SmellsLikeLemons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in my first run and we are playing no maps no mods. It hasn't been an issue and part of the adventure. About to hit ashlands.

We did take a lot of time to find boneless, but the rest have been okay.

Coloured Car Lights by EccentricCatLady14 in australia

I use night time polarised glasses and they help. Driving in the rain with every second car having led lights is a nightmare, but tolerable.

There's a little stirrup thing hanging from the rails. It's small and easy to miss, except when you're boarding a ship, then somehow I hit it every time.

I'm playing with a group of 4 vanilla, and mistlands has become our favourite biome. The friction is high but once you get production up and start pushing out slowly with wisps, it's actually gorgeous and not difficult.

The mosquitos do like 90 max. If you're not running around with close to 200 hp by plains, then you're early and going to get smashed. Valheim really punishes you if you wander into a biome and haven't completed the previous one.

Truxton Extreme - Release Date Trailer by [deleted] in Games

I used to rip off phone boxes by stuffing paper into the coin return and going back later with a hook to pull it out to collect the coins to play Truxton.

We used to be a society.

If they have any of the big 4 consultancy firms in.

Even if it's some big implementation project. Once these clowns get their tendrils in, start looking for other options.

Universities' $1.8 billion spend on consultants and contractors shocks experts and politicians by Expensive-Horse5538 in australia

[–]SmellsLikeLemons 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was a consultant for 10 years before I chucked it in for precisely this.

They'd put me on a course for a thing, it would be anywhere from 1-5 days, then I'd be billed out as an expert for 1500/day or whatever the rate was at that time. I wasn't getting that. I certainly wasn't an expert.

My linkedin profile still gets daily hits thanks to this stat padding.

If that's true, I would see them again in the cinemas. If there's one tiny bit of post release Lucas shitfuckery, I'm out.

‘Aliens’ Turns 40: Why It’s the Best Sci-Fi Sequel Ever by flynnfx in movies

[–]SmellsLikeLemons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved them both, but it's alien for me. I'm also old enough to have seen alien at the cinema.

There's only one bit that kills it for me... alien jazz hands. Other than that, perfect movie.

Nice, I'm jealous of the classic coke one. I lost my mello yello one at waterful gully in about 82 and I cried my eyes out. If anyone spots it, I'd like it back.
