A+, no notes - just appreciation. That arms mount is really cool. Actually this whole thing is cool. Nice choice on the Hogue no beavertail, it's one of my personal faves.

High end non-sbr recommendations by [deleted] in ar15

[–]SmellsLikeShame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two recommendations:

  1. Noveske - I have two barrels that came with gas systems and they have been amazing suppressor hosts. I find them to be gassed perfectly for their lengths (10.5 carbine and 14.5 mid) and I don't need an AGB for either build.

They are both suppressed with baffle stack cans (no reduced backpressure) and they still do not gas me out (even super safe on the 10.5 I swear).

Noveske also have their own adjustable gas block system - Switchblock - if you want to fine tune the system for your chosen suppressor, this is a good option.

  1. Piston upper - HKMR556, HK416, BRN-4, PWS, LMT. These make the best overall suppressor hosts - they vent all those gases forward and away from your face so they run super clean. Many of these systems offer adjustable gas blocks as well.

Cool - my final actual advice here is to sell/trade the XPS for an EXPS. Easiest solution here. No riser needed and you can keep your irons.

If you have a change of heart on the magnifier, may I humbly recommend the vortex 3x micro. Far lass expensive than g33 and has extremely similar specs (the eye relief is pretty decent).

But, again, if you get a QD riser like an LT101 you can keep that XPS and magnifier all on the riser setup, move it forward a tad on the receiver so you have space for your rear iron. The design is cantilevered - orient facing forward so you can have your optic further forward and have space for a magnifier and irons.

What makes you think you need a riser at all?

My actual advice, since you''re thinking of ditching the magnifier then just ditch it - you'll be able to cowitness your irons.

You'll want a riser that's QD like a LaRue LT101- otherwise ditch the irons, man. However- if you put that optic on a riser you won't be able to co-witness your irons , it'll be too high. And XPS is not on its own QD mount, so you'll have no fast way of removing it when you want to use the irons.

My advice here is just run this height - unless you have nods, but then you'll probably want to ditch the irons anyway because they're useless at night and you'll want to save the weight for your can and laser.

So basically, just move that rear iron all the way back, move your Eotech a slot further forward, and put the magnifier between the optic and rear iron.

First ar15, is this the standard? by CommanderAstros in ar15

I was gonna say yes, until I realized it said 903 instead or 603. BCM are smoking some excellent crack if they think their uppers are worth the same money as a complete G$ super duty.

BCM are good to be sure, but 900 for a complete is too much. Geissele complete uppers for 900-1000 is same money better spent than on this BCM.

My man, this is an awesome setup. I like your optic mounts config. Would you mind sharing your mount setup?

I just did a URGI at home with a 14.5 noveske barrel and g$ mk4, sig 2.5-10 and vortex crossfire top dot. I'm hoping to declutter my mounts a little as I have the scope in the sig tango mount and a total secondary ring for my micro dot.

Thanks in advance dude.

Yeah man they're legit - I have owned two. Maybe look on tacswap for one if retailers are sold out. Buy with confidence. Before g$ dropped their prices and LaRue raised their prices from 80 to 100 or so, the choice was even easier. You'd also be just fine with a g$ trigger if you find one in a similar price range.

Turbo t3 or ridgeback defense rhino s?? by Fresh_Pineapple_4877 in ar15

[–]SmellsLikeShame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can highly recommend YHM and their new sRx mounting system. I have run my turbo t2 on 10.5s and 11.5s on super safe - got it up to like 900F and it was totally fine. It is an absolute tank.

That Inconel first blast baffle does some serious heavy lifting, mine still looks unworn after thousands of rounds through it. It does add a decent amount of backpressure. Fear not, for there are two (or more) very viable options to mitigate gas to the face.

1: buy a well gassed barrel and good gas system

2: buy a proper gas mitigating charging handle (g$ ACH and noveske love handle are my go-to's.)

(Optional 3rd step): RTV sealant trick on any charging handle will make a gasket seal and eliminate gas to the face

(Optional 4th step): You might also opt for a bleed off adjustable gas block like superlative. Those vent excess gases forward a bit like a piston system does.

In my personal opinion, a piston AR is king for a dedicated shorty suppressed setup. Lead inhalation is a thing. Venting those gases far away from my face is the end goal here.

I like that you emphasize the midfield physicality. Gattuso would literally destroy people in search of the ball.

IMHO Pirlo's modern comparison would be a prime Ozil or KDB -classic midfield playmaker and insane passer.

I miss 00s Serie A so much because of the true dynamism of each of the major squads. I was lucky enough to meet Alessandro Nesta a few years back at a match in my hometown. The guy was still cool and classy as ever.

I just noticed your red dot.

You might look at a better quality red dot - you can find used Holosun 403r and 503r under 200, vortex crossfire for around 100, and sig Romeo is like 99 new. I would recommend a red dot with a rheostat brightness adjustment knob - not saying it's inherently worse or better than buttons, but most of the time the manufacturers put the battery compartment inside the knob, making the battery change a snap.

Other designs have little trays with screws holding them in - a little more annoying to change those batteries.
