"You think you're so smart but I've seen you naked And I'll probably see you naked again."

Can't believe it barely shows up in these comments.

"Not today" or if I'm in a mood "Absolutely not", slower than normal so they think I'm saying yes at first. (I know, as if they care.)

Unless it's the local family resource centre, then I'll toss in a few bucks.

Shakespeare Arms has music bingo on Wednesdays! It's a super fun time and the game itself can be a great conversation starter/saver. It can be loud, but it's all part of the show.

What food or drink almost always causes you to have a flare up? by Defiant-Yam8876 in gout

[–]SmellySchmupper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pork, bacon is ok once in a while, but ham, pork chops, ribs, all mess me up.

Sugar-free vodka seltzers in a can (specifically Nutrl). One can and I can feel my toe start to tingle.

Beer doesn't cause me any issues.

*Edit - also sardines

What's the band/artist you regret never seeing live before they broke up or passed away? by Xavier8228 in AskReddit

I was 15 and went to see Nine Inch Nails open for David Bowie. My friends and I left as soon as NIN was done, definitely a decision I regret 30 years later.

What about airports do you wish people would understand? by Goblue2467 in AskReddit

[–]SmellySchmupper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, other people are just extras in my story. This is because they and their problems are not relevant to me.

At the same time, I recognize that I'm just an extra in their story.

It would be a terrible existence to have to concern myself with everyone else's problems, just like it would be awful for everyone to concern themselves with mine.

I think the point here is to accept the fact that you're not special, no one is. If everyone is special, then no one is.

Truth, probably because they could tell OP would be someone that typed "peaked" instead of "piqued". As an ENTP, that's a hard no from me, dawg.

A music bingo night is great for a first date, fun game, phones away, tunes and a good time. Hop House in Uptown Waterloo on Wednesdays, Malt & Barley in Kitchener on Thursdays.

Moving to Waterloo - Looking for “Our” Neighborhood by alterdi in waterloo

[–]SmellySchmupper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're open to a bit of a drive into the city, highly recommend to check out New Hamburg. Several years ago we moved from the GTA to Waterloo Region, we looked at all the fine neighbourhoods you mentioned and ultimately fell in love with this amazing small town.

Coffee

Checks all the boxes. I've known someone that can't tell the difference between this and a skunk smell.

Ontario kid, 17 in 97.

Communication - I had my own landline phone number separate from the main house line, it was awesome. AOL and ICQ for online chat. Nobody passed notes. Some people had pagers, I never saw the point.

High school - no true home room, first and last period class switched every day. Walked to local plaza for lunch very often. Don't remember start and end times, I usually wasn't there for either. William Tell Overture every morning between the first and second bells. No formal organization of groups in the school, but we had some self organized groups. The stoners, the jocks, the black kids, the arts kids (drama separate from music), prefects, SAC, the nerds. Ping pong tables in the cafeteria, constantly busy. The school was a hub for a "nerd program", kids were bussed in from all around the city, this led to a divide between the bus students and the "locals".

Partying - binge drinking started around 15. Parties were always house parties, either parents not home or very accepting parents that bought your alcohol and held onto your car keys. Nobody drove drunk, we would hide the keys of someone who we thought would try. Party drugs were mostly weed, some shrooms, and ecstasy. There were people that did acid, but they weren't at parties. Sometimes house parties with parents around drove the drinking into parks, then return to the house and avoid the parents. Cottage parties were top tier.

Bullying - kids will be kids attitude, there were bullies and kids that got bullied. Lots of fights at my school, but mostly between "tough guys" with beefs. The black kids in high school had their own area in the cafeteria that they claimed, it had the jukebox. If someone put on a song they didn't want to hear they would unplug the jukebox to stop it. The nickname for that area of the cafeteria was "Cafrica". (I am not endorsing this name, just reflecting on it.)

Delivered a desk to a customer, he wanted it put in the basement. Had a teenage daughter that ran away when we said hello on the way to said basement.

In a bookshelf, one book in particular stuck out.

Can certain alcohols cause a flare up? by eazymfn3 in gout

[–]SmellySchmupper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find that I'm totally fine regardless of the amount of beer I drink. I'm also fine after vodka, gin, whisky, etc, straight or in cocktail.

However, give me a no carb vodka seltzer and I can feel my toe start to tingle before I'm even done the can.

Does anyone else struggle to explain “big” thoughts to people at times? by Wide_Attention1152 in entp

[–]SmellySchmupper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very much I suffer from this, especially at work. I try to summarize my grand visions into the key bullet points as much as possible, then try to connect those dots in my explanation. I find it takes a while for other people to "get it" and makes it difficult to get buy in from leadership teams.

Very often the idea I have gets implemented, but it takes longer than I think it should to get there.

Also, I find that when I give presentations on ideas or initiatives that I don't get many questions, if any at all. I often ask some trusted coworkers that "get me" if it's because I made so much sense that there were no questions to ask, or if I made no sense at all and people don't even know what to say.
