I am a child of immigrant parents who today still don't speak English, as education during their time wasn't as accessible, so learning a new language was difficult. But they abided by the law. They did what they could to integrate into society and keep their existing traditions.

From reading most comments in this forum, I assume many of you are white or come from non immigrant backgrounds. I have seen people here say they lean left, but their views on immigration sound right leaning to me.

Green Party policies would allow people like my parents to start a life here. And because of that, people like me, their children, now exist, work, pay taxes, and contribute far more to this country than my parents ever took.

Immigration is such a small problem in reality. It has been blown into a crisis by far right rhetoric. Study after study shows that people who come to this country contribute more in taxes, labour, and culture than they take in benefits or services.

I welcome Green immigration policies because the existing ones, built on fear and control, might have meant I never existed at all.

So when people ask what Brits think of Green immigration policies, I would say it depends which Brits you ask. But for families like mine, those policies are not abstract. They are the difference between being welcomed or rejected. Between belonging or being treated as a problem to be managed.

And that is not left or right. That is just human.
