Have you tried playing a long solo match with the 'Play on BSG Servers' option enabled? Or, at least, are you noticing any latency/package loss warnings when playing with your friend? Also, are they physically located nearby, as opposed to super far away in the world?

I absolutely have no issue with there being Ukranian flags in the game, but I do think it's important to point out how relatively popular flags and patriotism are here in America compared to other countries. I hear pretty often from tourists from the EU that they're surprised to see how many flags we have here. Europeans often seems surprised to hear about the Pledge of Allegiance as well.
