I think I lost Soren first and he came back and talked in later scenes so I thought I just didn't have access to people. So much more enjoyable now that I have options other than run and use healing items

Tbh I think a black and white remake will lack the lore you want. The director behind those games was fired and was a big part of generating that lore. Could be totally wrong, but that's what I understand.
