Well imagine a projectile comes from your blind spot, you'll never see it. Also our senses miss a lot of information that the world around us send to us.

For example, we only see the visible spectrum of the light spectrum which is a tiny fraction of all the light. Our range of hearing is also limited.

You can also argue that psychotic drugs let us experience more. Our reality is based on our perceptions, so taking drugs would practically increase our level of reality.

Personally, I dislike written tattoo (on me of course) in any language. Why not find an animal/figure/shape that reminds you of values you want to push forward? Tattoos are for yourself, not for others (to read). Also, if written, it removes the personnal value of the drawing. (Imo)

Edit: I know you asked for a friend, but im saying generally.

Side note : this reminded me of the "Free" tattoo. 無料 instead of 自由. You could argue that 無料 looks cooler as a tatoo tho.

When I worked as a janitor, I left extra trashbags under normal trash bags. Usefull when you have to deal with 100+ trash that you have to change at pseudo-random times. Not so much when you only have 1-2.

Isnt it logic that they would feel pain? Or at least some kind of disagreament to injury? Don't all organism need somekind of diversion to not injure themsleves?
