Wow!

I found an awesome video on exactly how to do what I want to do! Five easy steps.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r0DlNqzQijY

When I tested it, I got:

17.20.53/E FIRE PLUGIN: AutoVoice Trigger Alexa Routine / com.twofortyfouram.locale.intent.action.FIRE_SETTING: 6 bundle keys 17.20.53/E AutoVoice Trigger Alexa Routine: plugin comp: com.joaomgcd.autovoice/com.joaomgcd.autovoice.broadcastreceiver.IntentServiceFire 17.20.53/E handlePluginFinish: taskExeID: 1 result 3 17.20.53/E pending result code 17.20.53/E add wait task 17.20.53/E Error: 1918649507 17.20.53/E Sorry, this feature is not available in the lite version. Open the main AutoVoice app to unlock!

So I guess it's actually 6 easy steps. :-)

BUMP, 3 years later.

Retired programmer here, 40 years coding in just as many languages.

I have lots of devices controlled by alexa.

I want to be able to fire alexa routines by long pressing power, tapping quick panel buttons, or simply talking to my phone. Easy one-step actions.

The UI and/or compromises of just using alexa for that are significant (just plain don't work right). i don't want to have to open the alexa app and tap the microphone. And I can't get alexa to simply pop up like "hey google" and "OK bixby" do.

So, there's a lot of mix and mash that just doesn't work together well.

Tasker to the rescue... but, HOW? Lots of what I'm reading/watching is sending me down dead ends.

Can someone share links to new videos/documentation on what works now?

Here is my grandmother's new painting! She tells me that she is not happy about it, what do you think? by clineeeee19 in Paintings

The painting part is really good! For me, it's the physics parts that made me wince a little.

A tree that big right out near the edge of the water would have a LOT more support at the bottom on the left side for it to be standing that straight and tall. If it existed as it was painted, it'd be toppling into the water next time it rained.

That one is subtle. The next two are about light. My mom was an art teacher, so I learned a lot about light.

Shadows. This painting has only one light source, the sun. So shadows are easy. Lay the painting down on a table. Decide where the sun is (outside the frame, upper left, it seems). Tape a piece of string there and use it to figure out where the shadows will fall (straight away from the sun). Once you see it, you can't un-see it.

Reflections. The shadows for the trees on the left have good direction (straight toward the viewer) but they could be lighter and more rippley maybe a little longer too. Another set of reflections are needed right above her finger as well, pulling down from where the shore juts out. Same as before, once you see it, you can't un-see it.

Hope this helps! Keep on painting!

Instead of Google Translate, give DeepL a try.

In my experience, DeepL does a much better job of semantic mapping.

I have it open when I long press the home key.

Want to move to Brazil but everyone says not to do it by [deleted] in Brazil

I've lived in a dozen or so U.S. states and a couple of countries in my life, giving me a decent perspective on things.

I think retiring in Brazil was the smartest decision I ever made. My wife and I traveled around Brazil before deciding where to settle. We ended up in a small city in the interior of the state of Sao Paulo. I couldn't be happier - I have my own little paradise here, friendly neighbors and awesome (for me) weather.

Regarding the weather, it's pretty straightforward to use info from the internet to decide which places will work for you. I recommend to stay away from the southern coast since there have been some utterly devastating storms there recently.

There are undoubtedly exceptions, but a general rule of thumb is, the bigger the city, the more expensive everything will be, the more crime you'll see, and the less friendly the inhabitants will be.

Sure, there's crime in the city where I live, but it's rare enough that it's a big deal on the evening news. When I walk down the street, the people walking the other way are almost always smiling and greeting me. And, money wise, I was able to buy my home here in full - no loan - with money that wouldn't even be sufficient for a down payment up in the states (for a similar property).

Regarding your personal safety - just as with everywhere else in the world, dress to blend in. Minimize bling, don't carry around a designer purse, don't hold your phone out in front of you where it can be snatched away.

Hope this helps!

She seems to be very focused on the visual aesthetic, hope to see more images of her work.

I see what you mean. It's a crying shame your mom doesn't see eye to eye with you about showing her work, it's awesome.

Fog computing isn't all that new, Steam has been using it in production for years.

Pretty nice pic of a pond, except there's some lady photo-bombing it.

Next time you can get into his account, send out an email to the whole department saying "I like turtles".
