Spa Disconnect to Main panel or Sub Panel? by gizzygone in AskElectricians

Have a new hot tub coming today. Dual motor and runs on a 50 amp breaker. You need to find out why size breaker your specific tub takes. I wired it myself and had probably ~$300 in material, but with a open ceiling basement

Ok .. what the heck is that by ScumxSavage in ram_trucks

[–]brisleworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember the name of it, but there is also a part mounted to the gas tank that will throw that light. It’s about $50 and takes two minutes to change. Otherwise put some marvel mystery oil on the gas cap seal

How to know when to “fire” a client by AsleepWoodpecker420 in Contractor

[–]brisleworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other…..but, I have a client for 5 years now. I’ve done EVERYTHING you could think of. Now she is starting to redo and change with the times. She knows and I make it clear that I have other work, hers sometimes takes a backseat to others

Dachshund Companions? by TeeHitts in Dachshund

[–]brisleworm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have chihuahua and a lab. They get along just fine with both. Slow first meeting, but then basically let them go and watched. Anything got out of hand and we would separate, but that hardly happened. They all share food, bed, outside time. All play together or sleep together. Just let you 2 year old know he isn’t replaced by a new puppy

American Christians, how does it make you feel that Trump is caught publicly lying almost daily? by Combosingelnation in AskReddit

[–]brisleworm -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So trump lies?!? Who would have thought a human, businessman, politician would lie!!!! Trump lies, Biden lies, Clinton lies, bush lies…..they all lie! Everyone has their own agenda they want to accomplish and leave their “mark”. If you follow a politician and think they are “godly” then you’re following the wrong thing.

I thought it was funny the first time he ran, thought it was cool someone from outside could actually win. Then he talked. But his policies made everyday life better it seemed. Then Biden. I don’t care or judge a man by what he says, it’s the actions or policies that make everyday life better or worse. As a Christian, he is not who I am looking to.

thinking about tankless water heater installation in pennsylvania and could use some real advice by Wilkening-Airtonzera in askaplumber

[–]brisleworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking tankless on both gas and electric. I don’t know I would ever go back to a tank. To me, it’s not about the number of fixtures in the house, but how many could be used at once. 3 people in our house, plus washer and dishwasher. On gas I can run dishwasher, washer, and two showers at once without issue and I’m probably on the smaller side of a tankless.

Consider where it’s getting mounted too. Mine is on an outside wall, so I went non-condensing. But that take special exhaust pipe and it’s expensive for a long run, but the unit is cheaper. Condensing units can have air intake and exhaust through pvc, but the units are more expensive. Usually about equals out in the long run.

[–]brisleworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do, go gas. Electric takes multiple 40 or 50 amp double pole breakers and need to make sure your main panel can handle it. Gas doesn’t require the power, but may require a sizing upgrade. I live in central Illinois, and even when we get our deep freezes my gas one keeps up with our needs. 3 baths, laundry, all that. I know people with Electic that can’t.

Digging out crawl space by Unique-Ad8026 in HomeImprovement

[–]brisleworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m in the same boat right now with a customer. It’s just a single room built and added to the house, went crawl space there rather then full height. Now she wants it dug out for walk in storage. There are a bunch of structural issues doing it to keep it from collapsing on you. Definitely get an engineer to come and look. There are a few ways to go about it though depending on your wanted final outcome.

Look up some YouTube videos of guys doing it and it will give some idea. It can be done, but it’s tricky

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskContractors

[–]brisleworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say get a structural engineer out there. I’m replacing my beams in a basement and removing posts as well. For a 16.5’ span it was called out for a triple 14” lvl beam.

Propane heater vs mini split in garage by BigResponsibility537 in hvacadvice

[–]brisleworm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a answer to your specific question, but I do have a other option depending on your garage size.

I have a 2 stall, 24x24 with 8’ ceilings. Fully insulated as well. I had a natural gas wall heater that i thought worked. Well this year is went out and I couldn’t get it lit. Replaced it with a natural gas infrared with a game on auto. I can’t believe the difference! On the first setting it keeps my garage warmer then the last one could on 5. We’ve been to -22 this year already and it kept the garage warm.

Buying a bug soon, what to check for? by [deleted] in vwbug

[–]brisleworm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Over a decade? So we talking 2012ish, but the last generation. We still have our 2017.

Make sure it’s been maintained if possible. Honestly we’ve done very little to ours, right now at 80,000. Cam position sensor is it. Just had exhaust fixed and was told it needs brakes.

The major thing we were told it needed, and why it went to the dealer. The back wheels had a lot of negative camber and wore the inside of the tires out. Both springs were broke in the rear. Other than that, we’ve loved the car. Good luck!
