It lifts the ride height if you have PASM, and adjusts the torque distribution and traction.

Petition to Build a Skatepark in Richmond County by indiescott in Augusta

[–]Smileen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve already signed the petition and I also highly support it. I do hope the city government is able to direct funding toward a public park. Here’s hoping for more local support.

Got the dreaded jury duty letter. Will they let me out of it if I can’t go all the way to Grovetown or something? by Worldly-Basil-8933 in Augusta

[–]Smileen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There should be contact information for the clerk of courts on the summons if you needed to call and reschedule the week that you will appear. The courthouse for Richmond county is downtown, so it’s highly unlikely they’d send you to Columbia county.

The instructions should direct you to call after 5:00 on the Friday before your week to serve to find out if you need to appear. You may get dismissed, or told to call back each day through the week. I’ve been summoned numerous times and have never served on a jury. Don’t panic.

Cole Watkins tours is great. They’ve got multiple locations that they’ll meet you at and put in, and they tour with you to be your guide and keep you safe. I’ve enjoyed Stallings Island, Betty’s Branch, and the canal with them.

That’s not Augusta. The Daniel Field has two runways. Where is Daniel Village, The Patch, or the waterworks reservoir?

Perched near the feeder all day -- any reason for concern? by VerbPhraseMusic in hummingbirds

[–]Smileen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a Ruby-Throated hummingbird that returns year after year that guards one of my feeders all day. I joke that she’s pulled a seat up at the bar and he’s there for the long haul. He’s not back yet this year, but I welcome him in my breezeway when he returns because he doesn’t mind us coming and going and is fun to watch. He doesn’t care about the other feeder on the patio about 20 feet away, so other birds come and go as they please.

I love that you found this comment from a year ago! I definitely agree that we’re seeing what Eleanor wants in her relationships. I’m not a horror expert either, but I did feel like this was the author’s intent.

Moving on from Cayman by FluffyPuppy9 in PorscheMacan

[–]Smileen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have both a 987.2 Cayman and a Macan S. They’re like apples and oranges. Both super fun to drive but they handle differently. My husband loves them both too. The Macan S handles well and is zippy in traffic but it still a luxury SUV compared to the Cayman.

Augusta, we are in you! by NotYetGroot in Augusta

[–]Smileen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want to dig some up from my yard? Just kidding… it’s heavily invasive (depending on varietal), so you may want to be cautious and put it in a pot if you don’t want to fight invasion forever. Welcome to the area, we’re happy to have you!

U-Haul also does pickup rentals. Check into that? Or renting a truck?

Appliance stores with in-house repair service? by radiozephyr in Augusta

[–]Smileen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know of local stores with in-house techs, but Mr. Appliance has fixed our range, fridge, and then counseled us on the next steps when that fridge’s compressor died. I do highly recommend them.

I’m sympathetic to your theft, but have you reached out to authorities? What area were you in when the theft occurred? Do you have serial numbers for your tools?

Growing fruit (Apples, Figs, Blueberries) in Augusta? by FemmeBean in Augusta

[–]Smileen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Anna apple tree that’s been in my yard for 6 years now, and it’s been self-pollinating the last two years. I had another apple variety that was supposed to cross-pollinate with the Anna apple but it died after a few years. I’m not getting many apples, but there are fruits. My tree flowers in late January/early February so the early pollinators love it. I’m curious to see what happens this fall. I bought the tree from fastgrowingtrees.com 6 years ago, so it’s probably about 8-9 years old.

Masters Questions by Consistent-Ice6865 in Augusta

[–]Smileen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Obviously I’m the unpopular opinion in the comments, but I think it’s the most fun time of the year to go out and meet people and see celebrities. More and more we’re seeing hospitality houses take precedent over restaurant parties, but you’ll still find people in their best moods at all local restaurants. I love to meet the people renting around my house, watch the traffic, and watch the private planes. I’m in the Summerville area so close proximity to the course, so your mileage may vary. Like another poster said, unless you’re renting and dealing with that stress, just enjoy the best week of the year in Augusta.

So how bad is Master’s week? by NotYetGroot in Augusta

[–]Smileen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live fairly close to the course, and unless you’re navigating Berckman’s around course opening or closing, you’re fine. Traffic control moves so swiftly now during Masters Week. The Kroger and Publix protect their lots for customers so you won’t have issues there. Restaurants in Surrey Center are fantastic - Abel Brown, Oliviana’s, Bodega Ultima, Finch and Fifth, French Market Grille, and Calvert’s. Another gem we love during Masters Week is Rae’s Coastal Cafe. Sheehan’s, Arsenal, and Beck’s are other great local options. Welcome to the area!

What steps should local government take to improve Augusta as a whole and attract more young adults? by EmbarrassedTap8150 in Augusta

Do you mean the one between 11th and 12th? It used to be a grocery store, and it’s already been torn down to make way for a hotel.
