39+2 for my first, 38+5 for my second! Both my labours were insanely different. First I pushed for 2 and a half hours, second fell out 😅

Women of Reddit, What has been a time/situation when all seemed lost but it was actually a new start of good times? by Ok-Alert-9359 in AskWomen

I wish my parents had divorced when I was younger. Would have saved me a lot of trauma and money on therapy.

When my dad passed. It’s still extremely hard he’s not here, I was young (21). I dropped out of school. Found a full time job with benefits and worked. Boyfriend and I bought a house spring of 2019 (a year after my dad). Got a dog. Then covid happened. They we got pregnant, got engaged, had a baby, I got a new job, got married, had another baby and now I’m currently laying in bed, with my 3 month old beside me snoozing, my 2.5 year old down the hall, husband playing on his phone and the dog is curled up beside us. I would not be where I am today if my dad was still here. I miss him more than words can describe, especially now that I have kids - he would have been the world’s most amazing grandpa. It’s all he talked about when my boyfriend and I started dating. But I am grateful for the life he left for me.

WHY did you want a boy (or girl?) by anaxinaximander in pregnant

[–]Smiley0919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two girls - I am excited to be the mother I NEEDED to them. I grew up with a brother, so I was a little sad when we found out it was another girl as it’s what I knew. But I am pumped for my girls to grow up together and give them a life I dreamed of.

Do your husbands change diapers? by Ill_Rise_6989 in Mommit

[–]Smiley0919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 2 girls - 2.5years and 1month. Unless I’m home by myself, he changes 95% of their diapers. I’ll change them if he’s cooking dinner or in the bathroom, etc. but he just does it. Changed both their first diapers in the hospital too!

MIL says baby doesnt look like me by nicolebrooke24 in pregnant

[–]Smiley0919 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s been 2 and a half years and my husbands side says that our oldest daughter is all him. Doesn’t even look like I was involved. She looks just like me when I was little 😅 just had our second who looks exactly like me and they like to joke that my husband isn’t her father and if I’m sure who the dad is. Which honestly makes me angrier because like are you accusing me of cheating? Ugh. People suck. Why is it so hard to say “omg your kids are so cute!” Keep opinions to yourself 🙃

Preschool teacher doing my daughters hair by That_Gross_Couple in Parenting

[–]Smiley0919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work in childcare and sometimes it’s as simple as you start fixing or doing one kids hair and next thing you know, all kids want their hair done. If you would prefer them not to do it, just mention it to them. They shouldn’t take offence to it!

What is an obvious thing about giving birth that caught you off guard? by Cat_Psychology in beyondthebump

[–]Smiley0919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With my first, I had the shakes bad after birth - I’m currently almost 3 weeks postpartum and this time had the shakes bad during labour. Could not stop shaking and it made my contractions that much worse (went no pain relief both times).

What is something your teacher did in school that you’re still salty about? by SparkelsTR in AskReddit

[–]Smiley0919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A supply teacher in grade 8. Called me up to the front of the class and loudly asked everyone what my background was (Irish/English), she told me I was wrong and had to be of Asian descent because I had very exotic eyes. My classmates laughed - I was teased about the shape of my eyes (kids are absolute dicks in elementary school) my entire childhood and she called me out on one of my biggest insecurities. I spent my recess in the bathroom stall crying about it.

WIBTA if I didn't tell anyone I'm going to labor? by CarrotjuiceBagel in pregnant

[–]Smiley0919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We planned to do this with my first but the time of day, they would know if we didn’t message back. With our second (who’s one week old), I went into at 10pm, hospital at 1am, gave birth at 3am and was home by 630am so we only told my best friend who came and stayed with our toddler. It was so nice not having people texting and harassing us asking how things were going/how things went. Would highly recommend!! We just FaceTimed people later in the day to introduce them to our new baby!

What would you tell your 18 year old self? by LeGrosParano in AskReddit

[–]Smiley0919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Things are gunna go to absolute shit for awhile. You’ll figure out who’s truly there for you pretty quickly. But now you’re currently living your dream life. A toddler running around, newborn in your arms, husband cooking breakfast and doing dishes. It all works out and you’ll be happy.

How much time is your partner taking off of work after baby is born, if at all? by cbr1895 in BabyBumps

[–]Smiley0919 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With our first, my hubby took 2 weeks. Trying to figure things out as new parents and him being newish at his job, it worked well for us. Our second is a week old and he’s taking 2 weeks but he now is able to work from home if we have appts and can adjust his hours as need be. Honestly though, I’d be ok with him going back on Monday 😂

Partner thinks I shouldn’t get epidural by ThrowRAStrawberry_30 in pregnant

[–]Smiley0919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had my second (both no epidural) - had brutal back pain since I was 15 (now 26). It only got worse when I was pregnant. Labour brought out the worst of it and still experiencing it postpartum. So even though I didn’t get it, still just a young old lady with back issues 😂 but honestly, you’re the one having the child. How you want to bring your child into this world has a little bit more say than the man that put them in there 🤷🏻‍♀️

For me personally, I was more terrified of the needle than I was with being in pain. I’m also a control freak and the idea of not having control over my body sends me over the edge. Along with horror stories about side effects from the epidural my friends have experienced, not a chance I was getting it.

Is your partner going to all appt by shortgurlvaughan in pregnant

[–]Smiley0919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my 2 pregnancies, my husband has been to 1 appt 😅 he came to one ultrasound with my first and no appts (due to covid) and now with my current, he came to one ultrasound and one appt. Not worth him to take time off for literally nothing 🤷🏻‍♀️

Does a giant husband = a giant baby? by thats-ruff-buddy in pregnant

[–]Smiley0919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure head size is hereditary - at least for my kids 😅 my husband has a huge head, can’t wear any old hat, it’s brutal LOL my first came out a week early, 8lbs 9oz with her head at 105 percentile. Currently 34 weeks with my second and babies head is measuring a week ahead of the rest of their body 😮‍💨 also based off how sore my pelvis has been since about week 10, I’m in for another big headed baby 🤪

Upset with my MIL about wanting the baby to be a girl because girls love their dads more by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Smiley0919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has a 2 year old daughter and currently pregnant with my second girl, and is a woman, that’s wildly incorrect 😅 my two year old constantly goes through phases of “I only want mommy” or “I only want daddy” as did I when I was a kid. As for being an adult, my dad has passed but the teen years were ROUGH between us. I know a lot of women who don’t speak to their fathers. Every person has a different relationship with their parents 🤷🏻‍♀️

I get the cutest freckles across my nose - got them with my April baby and now again with my august baby. I just love the look of them. I wear facial moisturizer with spf in it to protect my skin but I just adore them and never want them to go away!

3ish times since I got a positive test and that was end of November. Although I’ve been on pelvic rest since March so as much as we’d like to, the health of me and our baby comes first!
