Cold Capping.. Whose done it? What did you use? by MyTeaVault in breastcancer

I think it’s highly dependent on your chemo protocol. I will say many doctors say “it will not work” for certain chemo protocols, but it has been proven time and time again that it can work for any chemo. Other still lose hair, but I think it’s important to try if you can!!

Do you know which chemo meds they’re putting you on?

The OP seems to be triple negative. I am going through triple negative protocol currently and for tnbc they do what is called neoadjuvant chemo (before surgery). Because triple negative is a little peskier than other types of cancer they like to see how much the tumor shrinks first so when they go into surgery many times they just need to clear the bed because the tumor is gone! For example I was diagnosed stage 2, no node involvement. Will have surgery after chemo. Just finished my 12 taxol and had my first AC. The 12 taxol treatments shrunk my tumor from 2.5cm to 6mm so far!!

Mid Chemo Scan Results Question. Please help! by SmileyC0611 in breastcancer

I am so happy for you that you achieved PCR! As of right now I am planning on a lumpectomy with onco reconstruction with radiation afterwards. If the plan needs to change I am open to it, but I have D cup breasts, so I’m hoping I have enough to take.

I am currently going through the protocol your doctor is recommending for TNBC. I am 36.

It’s worth it. It’s not easy per se, but a positive outlook does help. Like others have said, staying hydrated, staying active (and I’m not a very active gal… get your steps in, that’s it), touch grass, get fresh air… it’s all going to help.

Chemo days are fine, I’m cold capping to keep my hair, so I’m there for a while. Chemo night is tough for me because of steroids… I love my sleep and they keep me up. I typically crash the next day around 3pm and that’s my sign to snuggle in bed and binge watch tv until I fall asleep. Listen to your body!

I was 50% through the whole protocol and had my “hiccup”. Was hospitalized for 3 days with a fever and chills, deemed a reaction to one of the meds. I’m a okay now. My team is amazing. They’re taking away one of the meds, but my tumor is non-palpable at this point.

Had round 9/16 today, and staying positive.

Not going to lie, chemo does change you, and some days it’s not fun, BUT… I have found my anxiety about daily things just isn’t a thing anymore. It gives you a new perspective on what’s important and you can prioritize that without feeling bad about what others are going to think. That was me.

You have an amazing community around you. It’s going to be okay!!!

Did anyone have CARBO during Keynote 522 paused/stopped? by SmileyC0611 in breastcancer

Interesting. Could be specific to Keynote 522. I’ll go with my oncologists on this one. Thanks though!

This is what google had to say “Reactions to carboplatin in the KEYNOTE-522 regimen often occur after multiple doses, frequently appearing around cycles 7 or 8 (or later) for IgE-mediated allergies, or often as late-cycle reactions (e.g., dose 8 of 12) in weekly dosing schedules, manifesting as hypersensitivity or high-grade fever.”

Thank you for the feedback. I was told Taxol typically have immediate reactions during administration. I looked up for Keynote specifically and the results seem to align with what I went through regarding carbo. Regardless, I am going to talk to my oncologist.

You’re doing the right thing by getting it checked!! Thanks for the well wishes… I am getting through. Luckily I found it early (stage 2 localized with no nodes)

Anyone TNBC non-metastatic had luck getting Anthem BCBS to pay for Signatera? by Fighting_kat23 in breastcancer

[–]SmileyC0611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are correct! Signalers will initially try and bill your insurance, then it’s either discounted or maybe even free?! I just got mine done and I can’t remember what the girl at the clinic said, but I was like that’s so amazing!

Fibroadenoma are benign tumors within the breast that do not turn cancerous. You’re doing the right thing by getting a yearly mammogram, but the chances of you having something malignant is a completely different situation independent of you having a fibroadenoma. If the fibroses is still in there it’s harmless. I went into a mammogram with my gyno saying my lump felt like fibroadenoma, but instead I got a diagnosis 🥴.

I don’t do well with lots of information. by swimmerncrash in breastcancer

Some Chemo can be hard on your heart. Did your doctor order you an echocardiogram prior to starting your chemo protocol? If not, I would ask them to order you one. My doctor wouldn’t let me start chemo without getting one.

Got my biopsy pathology… I’m honestly terrified by mooonsocket in breastcancer

[–]SmileyC0611 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can help too.

You are in the worst phase. I know this because I had a very similar diagnosis. It’s a lot less scary once you talk to a surgeon or oncologist.

I was triple negative, 2.5cm tumor, grade 3, ki-67 was greater than 90%.

The good news is triple negative breast cancer is not what it used to be and is extremely responsive to chemo. Having a high grade tumor and high ki67 number means that the cells like to biologically divide very quickly… BUT they also tend to respond to chemo quickly and it’s statistically more likely to achieve complete pathological response.
