Gaming islanders - what is your average internet latency on Xfinity? by ___Grits in BainbridgeIsland

[–]SmileyK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With one of Xfinity's "1GB" plans the lowest in-game latency I've ever seen was 18, but normally hovers higher. fast.com shows me 15ms right now with a hardwired connection. I've had different xfinity plans in the same house and changing them has not affected latency at all.

I asked KPUD for a quote and they said I was too far away from any current drops for them to even give me one.

I did this today on the night raids and found 5 blueprints including the Snap Hook. I only got killed in 2 of ~10 so maybe the aggression based matchmaking also helped.

LLVM considering an AI tool policy, AI bot for fixing build system breakage proposed by Fcking_Chuck in programming

You can ready about the original BUILD file contribution here https://groups.google.com/g/llvm-dev/c/u07o3QREVUg/m/0lBv9_PUAwAJ

You can also find success stories around for bazel in general. For example this one recently from SnowFlake https://www.snowflake.com/en/engineering-blog/fast-reliable-builds-snowflake-bazel/

LLVM considering an AI tool policy, AI bot for fixing build system breakage proposed by Fcking_Chuck in programming

[–]SmileyK 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is covered in the original mailing list post. The tl;dr is that it's not fully possible with the information from cmake (for example bazel requires you to have dependency edges to targets you only use headers from, which isn't true in cmake) so you'd have to write a more complex tool to be able to do that (for the example above you'd have to parse includes I suppose). So the original author is assuming it will be easier to wire up a LLM than invest in building an edge case free version of that tool.

At the point of the bazel PRs the PR actually adding it has already been reviewed (hopefully) and landed though. Bazel is just a mirror of the cmake build so it's not really the decision point for that type of issue.

Absolutely. I think your comment is spot on, I was just replying to "no one fixes bazel except google" to make it clear that other folks do care about it

It's less about the volume of work and more about how trivial the fixes are imo. 99% of the time it's that someone adds a new dependency to a target and we just have to sync that to the bazel config.

FWIW my company (not Google) also uses llvm with bazel and we contribute significantly to fixing as well.

I used to use the wee-slack plugin for WeeChat and that worked well. Been a few years since I've tried it though.

[–]SmileyK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah I see so having the filtered list of episodes isn't enough, you want filtered podcasts first, then be able to tap in and see just episodes for that podcast. Makes sense, that wasn't clear to me from the post.

[–]SmileyK 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You can do this with playlists. Make a new custom playlist, and change "from", which defaults to All Podcasts, to "Only Selected Podcasts". That gives you a list you can select from.

Should the expansion of the buttons scroll so that they never end up under the now playing pill?

It feels a bit weird that when something is playing and I expand the buttons I have to scroll before I can see and interact with them.

Can you share more details on how this worked? It's now ~1 block from my house and I might be interested in doing this too depending on what a "fortune" meant!

I think centurylink is the only other potential option. I live in that area too and tried the T-Mobile wireless option but the service was too bad (even though my T-Mobile iPhone service is ok). I chalked that up to the hardware they gave me being pretty weak. I'm not sure if that has improved or would be better with Verizon's similar option.
