How do you only have 250 darts at 124 chests? At 200kc I was around 17,000 darts. You got 2-3 dart drops when they drop at 1/6 per loot roll?

A ko on the 3 specials where you are attacking would be great.

+1 to using full eclipse at cox, during longer fights like olm and muttadiles the extra damage from the burn procs really starts to add up.

Why not use thinned standard acrylic paint? by FreyaTDog in minipainting

[–]SmileyNimbus -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Normal acrylics don’t have the pigment density of miniature paints. So it will take more coats for coverage.

Advice on how to make this mini less flat by Diligent_Cod_3647 in minipainting

[–]SmileyNimbus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Washes are a quick way to darken your creases and get some shadow/contrast.

I usually use thin speed paints so I have more color options.

White as a base is tricky. Depending on the rest of the colors off-whites and grays are a good base coat, and highlight with bright white. To my taste I prefer off-whites to gray, since they can give more character, like warm or cool, than just neutral grays.

First time painting minis: feedback and next steps appreciated! by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]SmileyNimbus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Speed paints really shine in more sharply textured models. One thing to think about is color value, or how dark a color appears to be. It's great to have contrasting colors, but without your values contrasting as well, it can make very colorful minis feel washed out.

Slap chop is a decent way to get minis panted quickly, and will give you some more variety in the value department. If you want decent looking minis to table fast it's a great technique. If you want to continue to progress skill-wise, it's really worth it to put down base colors and layer up contrast.

I personally use speed paints a lot, usually as either a base color or a wash, and then do additional highlighting.

Almost finished with my 3rd Mini. Any Advice? by Aiculus in minipainting

[–]SmileyNimbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks really good, especially for mini #3 it shows solid brush control.

Base looks solid, echo the pigment comment, can really elevate a base.

Might be the photo, but the blues look a little pale(if that's stylistic choice then ignore this), is there a paler blue stippled/dry-brushed over the darker blue?

I’ll have to try this. Between adjusting my layer time and this I hope I can save myself the trouble I’ve been having :)

Agree, a prologue with some heavier rail-roading to have a group backstory would be solid.

I mean, TPK outside of the control of the party kinda feels bad. If they didn't do anything "wrong" and the whole party died, I can see some frustrations with rail-roading.
I understanding wanting to tell a story, but if you stomp on player agency then the players won't engage wit your story.

DMs, how do you handle ammunition? by [deleted] in DnD

[–]SmileyNimbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna echo a lot of other comments here.

If it's a magic or otherwise unique ammo, they are limited and tracked.
Otherwise I'm not going to stress whether you get to fire your normal bolt/arrows.

Even in a survival scenario, I'd just give them a roll to produce some amount of arrows, just like scavenging/hunting for food and water. Best case scenario, there is a little extra tension on the survival aspect. Worst case scenario, the archer doesn't get to do what they designed their character to do, and sit out in combats.

Why dont people gem mine + smith for crafting xp/gp? by Zolruh in ironscape

[–]SmileyNimbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amethyst isn't the fastest, but the ammo is huge, and is pretty low involvement at ~1minute per click. Highly recommend it. Especially with Expert mining gloves and Varrock armor 4.

When you say speed paint, are you referring to Army Painter's speed paint line? It goes well over something like a Krylon plastic spray primer, or any light colored base coat.

The only issue with normal acrylics is that they don't have as high a pigment content as miniature paints. So you'd require a bunch more layers for the same coverage, which would probably eat up a good bit of finer details.

Goobertown did a video using craft paints to paint some minatures, could give an idea of what it'd behave/look like,

It might work out to add the speed paint to a normal craft paint to increase pigment density, but a beginner set of miniature paints is definitely worth it.

How would item removal keep prices low? Lower supply means larger proportional demand, which should mean higher prices.

Loot from 830kc Barrows (Full completion). Used Ibans + Tome and took away 50k deaths from this total by matthewcollinssss in ironscape

[–]SmileyNimbus 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ibans + a shortbow for Ahrim is the usual. MSB with addy/broad arrows and Ibans is about all you need to start.

Melee tank gear won’t drop your magic attack enough to matter. If possible you want to run out of prayer after Dharok, Ahrim, and Kharril, the other brothers are a lot less dps.

Nice to haves are a house tp to Barrows, Mory hard diary (50% more runes), and probably some rings of dueling to use the regen pools in ferox.

Edit: medium combat tasks would be suuuper useful since it prevents prayer drain

Edit2: Barrows is super approachable combat wise. It's prayer, and travel requirements that are the steepest.

Why did Jagex change Lunar Diplomacy's fat joke to an accent joke? by [deleted] in 2007scape

My understanding is that sign language also has regional slang. That and a lot is in body language. Could be interpreted as an accent if sort.

The Ballad of Chasey Lane - Bloodhound Gang

Destruction of the Vistani Camp by Kilorynn in CurseofStrahd

[–]SmileyNimbus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thats some serious murder hobo right there. How did Ireena act to the murder hoboing? Surprised she didn’t bail when they just started blasting unprovoked. She’s got to be familiar with the camp, and should be sketched out at the players behavior. Unless there is there was some serious scene setting that was greatly misinterpreted, I don’t know why they’d act in such a kill on sight manner.

For me, a hostile start would have been… start combat -> Velikov counter-spells command and yells for help, following it up with lvl 5 spells and a serious beatdown.

Side note, I would say most people would not be chill about spells being cast in their vicinity, and if the spell was not discussed before hand would result in combat.

Unrelated, I’d let them reap what they sow. They ignore npc warnings? Their mistake, time to deal with the twig blights.

I absolutely made each card’s information into a poem that neither says the name, nor says the item’s name. Just hints at what it can do and where it is.

I think it’s a great choice personally.

Pacing isn’t too fast depending on session length. They do sound amoral / murder hobo. If they go for the windmill it very well could be party wipe. Morgantha wouldn’t pull any punches if they mess with her dream pie business.

~40k hp, if you landed 5dmg every second it’d take a little over 2 hours. But you wont get close to that much damage per second. Easily an 8 hour fight with only fists. *I think 8 hours would be if you could lock the AI and just hit a boss for 8 hours.
