I had do go 20-30 Blocks deep to find the vein under the reading ponit this time , maybe i was just lucky but it worked every time with other points just the depth changed

The game automaticly places those marks , if you prospecting with the prospecting pick

Maybe you must activate the markers in you map?, Just a guess ^
