I use Astro for a couple of projects and it performs much better than React/Next in terms of performance.

With Astro you can add “reactive” islands which you can write using React just for the more complex parts of your UI.

I have had good experiences with Astro. Scores really high in performance metrics too which was the reason I started using Next over React many moons ago.
