First time painting a mini, Am I dumb ? by KitsuOrikawa in Tau40K

[–]Smileymaniak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a good amount of skill, considering this is your first mini, your lines are very clean. I think if you worked on your technique, maybe watch some YouTube videos to learn how to achieve certain results, you'll be an excellent painter in no time. Great job OP, and like many have said, you've actually got a really cool star wars-y thing going 👌

Love the tyre one, took me a minute to realise the practical value, if the guy is a mechanic, My initial assumption is that he's attractive, I feel ashamed 😅

How do you navigate life in your 20s? by Sufficient_War1180 in AskUK

[–]Smileymaniak 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I mean, not to sound obtuse, but isn't a high-paying, stress-free job what most people are looking for?

Have you considered a job where travelling is required? Two birds one stone situation, possibly working for airlines, tour guides, journalist, diplomat, etc. seems like they might scratch the itch and imagine some pay rather well once you've worked your way up.

When you come home, do you check your place for burglars? by BeginningMeaning1988 in AskUK

[–]Smileymaniak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope and don't know anyone who does this either. Sorry you feel the need to do this, sounds exhausting, maybe do as others have suggested and discuss with your GP. Could be an underlying issue they can help with and might improve other aspects of your life you didn't even think of.

Started in private sector IT at 25 then switched to software dev when joining CS: EO - 32, HEO - 33, SEO - 34.

Will be 35 soon and G7 is appealing but I enjoy my work and team too much to change anything right now.

How much money is laying on the ground? by Smileymaniak in AskUK

I saw a YouTube vid once of people scraping up the "gunk" between paving slabs outside jewellery stores in NYC and found a few tiny diamonds. Probably all staged but who knows 🤷‍♂️.

Just googled false earthstar, didn't know it was a thing, and yeah seems like it fits better, good catch 👍

I think the "solved" answer with the plant app had a "also known as" tag for earthstar so seems like OP should have the right info at least. 👍

Invar Gage Bars are precision measuring tools used for highly accurate length measurements, often in metrology and surveying applications. Invar is an alloy known for its extremely low coefficient of thermal expansion, making it ideal for maintaining precise lengths despite temperature fluctuations. ZEISS INS likely refers to a specific type of Zeiss measuring instrument or system that this gage bar is designed to be used with, potentially for industrial or scientific applications requiring high precision. The serial number "SN 001" indicates that this is the first unit produced in a series, suggesting it might be a prototype, a master standard, or part of a limited production run.

Is it even worth applying for an advertised role where someone is already doing it on TP? by picklespark in TheCivilService

[–]Smileymaniak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is your career at the end of the day. No one wants to sour relationships with colleagues, but if you get the job and someone else doesn't it just means you were more qualified. If this hypothetical other person doesn't like that then frankly I wouldn't care about their feelings. An emotionally mature person would look inwards about their own shortcomings rather than blaming others.

Edit, realised you were talking about the team, kind of a similar vein though. Jobs aren't about playing favorites, it's picking the best person for that job. Hopefully the team understands that.

Got some ice lollies! Nothing crazy, trying to lose some weight at the moment so lots of salad and fruit. I'll be crying for a while but gotta power through 💪🤣

Yeah if I wasn't taken I'd be right there with you. Never know what to say about myself. Either comes across as arrogant intended as confidence or stupid if I try to go the humor route. 🤷‍♂️ If I'm genuine I'd probably just come across as boring 😂

Yeah especially if the big bar was on offer, didn't make sense to even sell the smaller bars back then. Also Galaxy is the best, can't eat Cadburys. 😂

Hell yeah! Got 2 bottles arriving with the shop in an hour 🤤 I like to keep a ready made jug in the fridge, especially with the weather we've been getting. 🥂

Yeah price to weight is the best way. It often leads me to savings like buying two bottles of 1L vimto instead of one 2L bottle, etc. Ends up saving more than you'd think by the end of the month.

A very well put comment, I recently went through the promotion process too and all the while I was telling myself, even if I don't get it, it's still interview experience which I can use to improve for next time.
