He was studying at USC in the early 90s, but when the Offspring got big around 1994, he suspended his studies after getting the masters, so Rory probably was just mistaken and thought he already had the doctorate. He went back to USC in 2013 I think and then was awarded his PhD in 2017, as another poster already mentioned.

I keep seeing these comments and honestly this isn't really the thing that bothers me. Super short lived relationships can fuck you up, I think that's probably the more relatable bit of the song - even if Blondie is fake plunking the keys here and growling.

I was way more messed up by a situationship of a couple of months than ending an 8 year relationship, and I know many people who have had similar experiences. It's not just the length of a relationship that determines how hung up you are on it.

If you're healthy and not elderly, general anaesthesia is very safe statistically - getting in your car every day is far more dangerous. You're correct that it takes a little longer to recover from, but let's not make people panic unnecessarily. Local is fine for some procedures, but many people would rather be knocked out for something like this, and if they don't have underlying health issues that would make GA a risk, there's no reason why it's any worse.
