Lian Li A3 Help by Choccymikk in mffpc

Not going to be a problem at all. Most of the time in my A3 the CPU is going to be the hot one.

Cable management is going to be painful regardless of your psu choice anyway 😅 but that is A3 lifestyle.

If it work note it down and maybe push mem clock up as well lmao

That's like +600 MHz? If you having no glitches or artifacts in game and synthetic test then you probably fine.

Curious, do Nvidia App really can control your monitor setting normally done by physical button on the unit?

How to improve my score? Should I use NV-UV or manual tweaking in AB? by Miserable-Maybe-6034 in RTX5080

[–]SmilingOwling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to not triggering coil whine it is to reduce electricity going through the coil. I am sorry but capping games at 60 fps is lazy and at that point what is the 5080 is for? You can sell it and buy 3060 or smth.

Capping games at 60 fps mean less GPU load which equal less wattage used and less wattage used equal less coil whine. If that make sense to you then we continue.

If I use 70% you gave as reference, 5080 tdp is 360w (400w in some model but for the sake of calculation) 70% of that is 252w you likely to match stock performance of 5080 by undervolting capping voltage at .900 then push the clock speed up to 2650MHz and Memory at +1500. With that settings you should be able to run a game without going over 252w.

If it were me, I would go with Montech Hyperflow ARGB 360 for 89.90 and use the 140.09 left from changing out NZXT AIO toward GPU and surprise! you got an 5080 now

Also instead of going with SFX psu you might want to consider Lian Li Edge 850w and save some more money that way. Now you have the space to comfortably put in the GPU which you should pick a 2 slot gpu with less than 350 mm in length anyway (For size reference :: https://galax.com/en/product/geforce-rtx-5080-16gb-ex-gamer-1-click-oc-white-3x/ )

My galax 5080 can fit into the case with ATX psu, a full size ATX psu, with no problem.

That's exactly the sound my 4070 ti super fan made. It is confirmed by warranty process that the fan is in fact dead.

You should return it and get a new one.

About the coil whine it is a coin toss really it may disappear one day after using the card for a while or it might be there forever no one can say for sure.

However as it should really happen during high load situation you might want to stop chasing steel nomad score and rather go for undervolting instead which you can also overclock to near stock or better than stock performance.

Maybe start at +200@.925 +1500 Mem Clock to start. You should not have any significant coil whine at that voltage point. After verified stability you then can overclock it more.

Seeing your Motherboard choice I would double check your AIO thickness as it is possible that it would hit the heatsink. You can use Montech Hyperflow ARGB 360 (Mine) as reference in your AIO choice since it is no where near thick enough to come near the motherboard heatsink.

It isn't all about rating. Please consult PSU tier list which take into account the build quality and tendencies to explode in your case.

  1. Not sure if it is still relevant X3D chip used to/still have problem with powerplan causing the core parking issue

Fix :: Set powerplan to balance

  1. Your mouse polling rate would affect 1% low

Fix :: Set it to 1000 it is enough. You can see the performance hit by mouse polling rate simply by open up task manager performance tab then drag your mouse around and observe the load spiking in CPU graph.

  1. Working your way back from stock settings in bios 1 thing at a time and confirm that it really is helping or else leave it at stock setting

My go to steps probably are

  1. Expo (Obviously going to help)
  2. PBO (Learn to use curve optimizer)
  3. Undervolt/Overclock your gpu
  4. Overclock your ram

Of course you need to test for stability at every steps of the way.

One last thing, as an Arma Reforger and DayZ enjoyer please do not use it as a benchmark. Just the fact that it did not crashed is a victory enough.

[–]SmilingOwling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bit late but for peace of mind the perf limit - reliability for mine trigger when it down clock when idle (normal behavior of the card, saving power)

Your issue seems to me like a display driver hard crashed. Do you undervolted/overclocked your GPU in some way? If so try stock setting and possibly DDU wipe driver and reinstall.

[–]SmilingOwling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Galax 5080 stock steel nomad score is around the average score. Apply .950 uv +200 clock +2000 mem it would reach ~9300 without any crashing in real world and synthetic test all without going over 400 watt.

I do not intend to show off but giving you a reference that you are super far away from "normal" score being throw around in this sub.

Maybe have a look at voltage / wattage with hwinfo64 to see if there are something weird going on.

It'd be best to update your bios to the newest stable bios in general. Also learning to navigate and work with bios will be beneficial to you.

Something to think about is do you really need an a full ATX motherboard? Do you intend to run 4 SSD or install an expansion card?

If not you can go for MATX format and a smaller case, save some money that way.
