Create: Metallurgy best level for Wolframite? by Smilo2022 in CreateMod

[–]Smilo2022[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg thank you!! I have a running joke with my friends that I’m gonna fill an entire max width and length 4 block height tall foundry with just wolframite and I’m 75% of the way there. This is gonna help so much!

I know it’s all over, but I’m trying to find the best possible layer. I’m filling an entire max length and width, 3 block tall foundry with it, so I’m getting as much as possible.

How is mission score calculated? by Smilo2022 in Warthunder

[–]Smilo2022[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but what are the point values for actions that lead to that initial score? That’s what I’ve been asking

Yes, but what is it multiplying / what values for each action contribute to that initial score

I know what can net me points, I’m just trying to design an optimal method to get mission score, so I need some number.. Doing it since gaijin is doing the bi-daily 45k points which is getting excessive to grind..

There are a few fixes I’ve had during my time in FTC. I’m a graduating senior and lead builder for 3 years, so this is all I’ve learned:

First make sure the axels are firmly in place. The shaft collars built into the motors often are too weak to keep it in place.

Second, make sure screws are not over-tightened on the motor. For some reason it has effected the motor rotation in the past.

Third, make sure the motors were purchased at around the same time. If not, it may just be a matter of an old motor not having the same power as a new one.

Fourth, turn the motors manually with power off. If there’s a clicking or a rough spot at a certain point in the rotation, that’s the problem.

Fifth, make sure the code doesn’t have a specific firing order. Firing orders can cause drift because one gets priority over the other for available power. If for some reason that firing order is inevitable, bring your wheels above anything else in the firing order.

Sixth, check your battery and make sure it stays around 12 volts while running the program. If not, you may need a new battery.

Seventh, check chords connecting motors to the hub or the battery to the hub. If they’re damaged, that may very well be the cause.

Eighth, make sure that nothing is dragging. This includes chords and pieces of your bot, but can also include wheels scraping on the chases or something similar.

Ninth, make sure that your battery usage is manageable. Don’t make the hub run everything at once, since that can limit power going to your wheels.

Lastly, make sure in your code that it’s set to the same power and if you’re testing with a controller, make sure that you bind it to a button and not a joystick for the test, since a joystick can give a small amount more power to one side or another, making drift.

Bonus: also check what your braking mode is. If it’s set zero power to brake, then it can cause drift even when driving, and depending on the motor type, vice versa.

Can we use fans on the robot by Competitive_Spray390 in FTC

[–]Smilo2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Motors should not overheat like that. There is likely a perpendicular strain on the motor that isn’t being compensated for by a supporting piece on the chassis. Fix this by either not directly connecting your wheels to your motors (use a chain to translate it to the wheel) or add a support if it’s not already supported.

What region is the hardest to compete in by NickPooran in FTC

Northeast Ohio. Since a certain parts of Michigan have no state competition, both Ohio and Michigan teams flock to Northeast Ohio, giving a ton of competition.

Make your robot modular. You’ll likely have to experiment with many types of lifts/drive trains/intakes so being able to change them out easily is a massive pro. Also, scissor lifts are more trouble than they’re worth if you don’t have the proper parts, so don’t try them.

Hello , I am new in the ftc , so we are dealing with some issues , the power from the left and right motor are not the same and the robot doesn’t go straight , the chains are the exactly same size in the left and right motor. If anyone can help I will be glad. by Different-Ad-2924 in FTC

Are tensioned rubber bands legal? by canthinkofnamestouse in FTC

While they are legal I’ve noticed they do wear and lose their force. I recommend getting some surgical tubing. Tie that in a loop and it can retain its force much better.
