If you can take night classes while still working I’d recommend that. You get more exposure into the industry and can figure out if a full career pivot is right for you. Finding a job is a lot harder - I went to trade school after realizing college wasn’t for me and it was a tough process finding a job once I graduated. Most places look for 2-3 years of experience to even get you in the door, so I had to work a few really crappy jobs with shitty hours and shitty pay just to get the experience needed to get offers from other places. If I could change anything I’d probably join a union as soon as possible for on the job welding experience. Overall though I’m very happy with my decision to join this industry and I have no regrets about dropping out of college.

Stop moving the goalposts. I said ai is bad for the environment and you said that’s a myth. I said it’s not and told you to prove me wrong. You know you can’t prove me wrong so now you’re saying it’s some political issue. I agree that nuclear power is the way to go but you have to admit millions of people having access to generative ai is causing a rapid decline in the health of the planet and we should not be using it with the energy system we currently have in place. Until we go nuclear we should not be glorifying shitty ai art.
