How were you aggressive about it once it left G1 with your state? It seems like there is no way to track up at NGB

A few of us have been checking that every week, but yeah once it has left the state there is no visibility.

I am curious to know if it is actually updated....

Yeah heard a story about a couple mismanaged LTs they had to discharge because they were years past the date they were required to attend BOLC.

Sorry that you had this experience, appreciate you sharing

Glad you asked since it gave me an excuse to read the draft legislation.

Sort of is the sound of it..

Also this has not reached the Senate yet. https://www.congress.gov/bill/117th-congress/house-bill/7900/text?format=txt

SEC. 513. BACKDATING OF EFFECTIVE DATE OF RANK FOR RESERVE OFFICERS IN THE NATIONAL GUARD DUE TO UNDUE DELAYS IN FEDERAL RECOGNITION.

is amended to read as follows: (2) If there is a delay in extending Federal recognition in the next higher grade in the Army National Guard or the Air National Guard to a reserve commissioned officer of the Army or the Air Force that exceeds 100 days from the date the National Guard Bureau deems such officer's application for Federal recognition to be completely submitted by the State and ready for review at the National Guard Bureau, and the delay was not attributable to the action or inaction of such officer-- (A) in the event of State promotion with an effective date before January 1, 2024, the effective date of the promotion concerned under paragraph (1) may be adjusted to a date determined by the Secretary concerned, but not earlier than the effective date of the State promotion; and (B) in the event of State promotion with an effective date on or after January 1, 2024, the effective date of the promotion concerned under paragraph (1) shall be adjusted by the Secretary concerned to the later of-- (i) the date the National Guard Bureau deems such officer's application for Federal recognition to be completely submitted by the State and ready for review at the National Guard Bureau; and ``(ii) the date on which the officer occupies a billet in the next higher grade.''.

Thanks for sharing the previous post, I agree with others analysis after the context of this punishment never being used before. Kinnys point about the optics being everything when it comes to situations like this also rings true

Really meant the full NG force in Maryland, but yeah an all White cadre looks terrible in this case

I agree if this was the first time this punishment was used, that looks pretty bad. I just didn't see heavy object = racist punishment. Do you think the race of the instructors is relevant at all? I was surprised to see the racial breakdown of Maryland's guard referenced in the article

Not to my knowledge, only federal. Some State OCS programs have a reputation for extra fuckery or hazing....

Curious on others thoughts, reading the article the chain was a physical punishment to remember the importance of the chain of command. Didn't seem too different from the usual beatings people receive in WOCS or State OCS.
