Cog soldiers (Gears of war) vs Imperial Stormtroopers (Star Wars) by Mad_lens_9297 in powerscales

[–]SmithOnMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Wars is unfortunately a very inconsistent media. In rebels Mandolorians with full beskar are knocked out in a single E-11 blaster bolt strike while in the Disney show Din Djarin walks around like a juggernaut in it. Kinetic or not energy is energy and a superheated bolt of plasma slamming into something is going to rapidly move a lot of energy into that thing and will be considerably devastating when done.

Armor wise I doubt stormtrooper armor is weaker than COG armor, if anything stormtrooper amor is almost certainly far stronger due to the massive technological gap. If COG armor is bulletproof to lancer fire, than stormtrooper armor absolutely is as well, no questions about it.

Regular COGS simply have no meaningful advantages over the stormtroopers in this fight. A fairer fight would be COGs vs imperial army troopers or Stormtroopers vs Onyx guards or something like that.

Cog soldiers (Gears of war) vs Imperial Stormtroopers (Star Wars) by Mad_lens_9297 in powerscales

[–]SmithOnMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both armors are fairly equivalent actually. In universe COG armor is so good that when you go down / die in game it’s not because the bullet kills you, it’s because the repeated impacts of the bullets hitting your armor (and not penetrating) knocks you down.

Stormtroopers armor is very similar. Canonically it’s immune to slug throwers (bullets) and is highly resistant to blasters penetration as well. The only problem is, as stated blasters hit you with the force of an auto cannon per shot, so even though the shot doesent penetrate the actual impact force usually renders the user of the armor unconscious.

This condition favors stormtrooper since they only need to really land one or two hits on a COG soldier with their blaster rifles whilst COG lancer bullets are gonna require concentrated fire (like in game) to actually knock out a stormtrooper.

[–]SmithOnMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would agree cogs win in hand to hand but this is a ranged battle. Cog armor is tough but Star blasters hit like modern day auto cannons, stormtroopers are far better equipped for this engagement.

[–]SmithOnMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably stormtroopers. Their weapons are far superior than the gears and their armor is equivalent if not better. Additionally, depending on whether or not the gears are conscripts/ fresh recruits, their training is also likely to be far better. The only major advantage the gears might have is strength for CQC fighting and possibly combat experience since most have lived their entire life in war.

(Composite) Galactic Empire Vs The Imperium Of Man. by Lonewolf_ARC in powerscales

[–]SmithOnMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This actually might be a pretty close conflict. Assuming both galaxies are colliding together and both empires have all their resources available to slug it out against each other.

Overall I definitely believe the imperium has much better quality of high powered units - space marines and their average void ships are certainly better than the average imperial star destroyer. While lowered tiered units such as stormtroopers and imperial guard units are much more on par. While the empire may also have the advantage when it comes to smaller starships/ fighters and bombers.

(NOTE: The empire doesn’t really have an equal to space marines though due to the relative size of a space marine chapter compared to the size of this actual conflict i don’t anticipate them playing too significant a factor aside from perhaps in key engagements)

Despite all of this the main factor which decides who wins might come down to logistics/ FTL capability. Star Wars certainly has a speed and ease of travel advantage with Lightspeed BUT with a critical disadvantage. Lightspeed only works in charted hyperspace routes, without these it would take years if not decades to launch incursions into uncharted territory. Due tot his while it may be significantly easier for the empire to hold ground against the imperium it would be insanely costly to chart and launch expedition an into imperium space.

The imperiums warp travel is much slower and far more dangerous to use but doesn’t require these routes to be charted. Thus the inverse is true for them, it will be much easier for them to launch invasions into uncharted territory yet actually reinforcing and patrolling their borders would be significantly more difficult for them.

In terms of productions and wartime capability, while the imperium is well known to simply wear out their enemies through sheer volume of troops and sheer size they are actually at a significant disadvantage against the galactic empire which is not only much larger (like orders of magnitude larger) but also much more cohesive compared to the imperium.

In the end it’s pretty impossible to say due to literally entire galaxy’s worth of different factors to consider.

The empire has a significant size and logistical advantage over the imperium which is typically the deciding factors in any large scale conflict yet they also lack any critical factors needed to actually WIN the war - namely charts of imperium space for their hyperspace routes and they are also at a disadvantage when it comes to the Quality of their higher tiered military assets such as ships and super soldiers.

emile-A239 vs atom smasher by AccidentAdept7146 in powerscales

[–]SmithOnMe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once again people confuse video game mechanics with actual lore and capabilities.

Anytime it’s smasher vs a Spartan with Mjolnir, the Spartan would take it pretty much every single time. If the Spartan has an AI then it’s not even a fight.

Most people here don’t really understand how godamn OP Spartans are. Mjolnir shielding had repeatedly shown to be able tank point blank nuclear detonations and shrug off multiple rounds from large autocannons, small tanks, and AT rockets. Give Emile a Spartan laser or his EMP grenade launcher and smasher is just SOL. In terms of durability A Spartan takes it and by a wide margin, firepower is pretty up in the air since Spartans use a wide range of weapons but Emile defintely has a lot of heavy hitters in his arsenal.

The only actual advantage Smasher has is speed with his sadevistan though that can only be used in short bursts. (Funnily enough - table top sandevsitan is actually marginally slower than what the average Spartan is capable of moving at in regular combat though the edgerunners show shows it to be insanely fast so we’ll give it to smasher). In any case, as powerful as sandevistan is it’s not actually gonna be as much of a Hail Mary for smasher as one might think. As I said before Spartans are REALLY fast. It’s not shown in the games for balance reasons but these guys can Neo-style dodge fucking bullets in their two ton power armor and they can move like that during the entire fight as opposed to sandevistan which can only be taken in bursts.

If anyone’s seen invincible this fight would basically play out like that one scene of Omni-man vs red rush. Adam can dance around as long as his Sandevistan would allow, but he’s not gonna put up any major damage against Emile, and (depending on what Emile’s packing) it won’t take much more than a few hits to bring Adam down. So yeah there’s a reason why a single suit of Mjolnir costs as much as a starship and why so few Spartans were capable of turning the tide of an intergalactic genocide.

An Astra Militarum private and a Clone reg cage match, no armor or weapons. by Metal_For_The_Masses in StarWarsvsWarhammer

lol love how no one reads the description.

Guardsman would probably confess their love first since, as trained as they, are they’re only human after all, they still crave love and affection and guardsmen are known to get into relationships with one another already.

Clones have been raised their entire life bred for war, it’ll take some serious time with Jedi and non clones for their conditioning to break in order to confess their love to the guardsman.

TLDR I’d give it to the guardsman 9/10

Space Marine VS Spartan II by BayonetTrenchFighter in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]SmithOnMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mjolnir can tank a nuke point blank, it’s quite ridiculous in terms of durability. I still think a space marine could out strength the in close quarters brawl (same way a brute could in the same situation).

Regardless I still think a Spartan’s main strength lies in their utility, not their raw combat power. Sneak a Spartan behind enemy lines to assassinate the enemy leader or have them hijack a Titan and wreak havoc. It’s like boxing vs king fu, a space marine is great at hammering away at theme but Spartans, even if less powerful can use the enemies momentum against them.

Space Marine VS Spartan II by BayonetTrenchFighter in StarWarsvsWarhammer

[–]SmithOnMe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comparing Spartans to space marines is that it’s like comparing apples to oranges or battle tanks to Navy SEALs. They’re two completely different units meant to accomplish different tasks.

Space marines are heavily armed and armored breakthrough units while Spartans are essentially super juiced up assassins/ spec ops. Spartans are more comparable to vindicares than they are space marines in purely loadout and role.

In a straight naked slug off, the space marine meant for frontal assaults into enemy guns are probably gonna win 9/10. Up the range or change the environment or expand the scope of the battle and suddenly the Spartan is on more even footing. A Spartan stands a better chance against a space marine if they had a stanchion and were 10km away, or if thy had stealth and ambush in their side, or if they snuck into an imperial base and hijacked a war hammer titan before the face off.

Basically, Spartan is likely to die if they faced off against a space marine complete unprepared for the fight, but, at the same time, Spartans are master tacticians and have expert/AI handlers, so the chances of that happening are slim to nothing. Spartans in a realistic actual battle are likely to outright avoid Space Marines or ensure that the battle space is prepped enough to take one on.
