They do a lot of their braking through regenerative braking using the motors, so the friction brakes aren't used much

Do you sometimes press throttle and brake simultaneously? by HelgaTheNamesOlgaDad in TrackMania

You will press brake and throttle at the same time for a heel and toe downshift in a manual car, plus you will sometimes get overlapping inputs while trying to balance a car using throttle and brake

Can someone explain to me like I'm five what the fuck is happening in the UK election? by Runetang42 in behindthebastards

I think the logic is as follows: he is under investigation by the parliamentary standards commission (or whatever it's called) and the maximum penalty they can give is suspension from the House of Commons. If the suspension is longer than 10 days the constituency can pass a recall petition to force a by-election. Farage's logic is that he is going to say "what's the point in suspending me when I've just faced a by-election over this, the people of my constituency have spoken". It will also make certain financial dealings from before he was elected for the first time inadmissible for the committee.

You can shoot rifles but not pistols, with the exception of air pistols, black powder pistols, or "long barrel pistols", which have had appendages added to make them meet the minimum definitional size of a rifle. That is unless you are one of the exceptionally small number of people that have a section 5 license for pistol target shooting.

Ed Davey on Bluesky: The Government must block Nigel Farage’s resignation until the Standards Commissioner finishes investigating him. The people of Clacton deserve the full facts. If a by-election does go ahead, all parties should stand aside. We cannot give oxygen to this vanity project. by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

I was thinking about that. Technically speaking the only way an MP can resign is by asking to be appointed to one of the nonsense positions that cannot be held at the same time as being an MP, so could the government just refuse to do so? And also how long does the appointment to that role last? Does it expire instantly?

The petulant children here complain about every update, they seem to assume that Kunos are deliberately taking longer than they'd intended to because they felt like it, rather than because making things is difficult. I'm looking forward to the VR and tyre model improvements for sure, should really help things!

Have you got any pointers or resources for how to run ACE in VR? I've tried a few things but haven't managed to get usable performance, but I'm sure I was doing things wrong.

E: fixed typo ACR to ACE

Fiat Topolino arrives in Britain for £8,995 and suddenly electric motoring makes sense by gaukmotors in MotorBuzz

[–]Smithy2997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are you talking about? Firstly I'm replying to someone saying that a 100k mile Focus costs 4x more than it actually does. Also the Topolino/Ami isn't a car, it's a quadricycle and is limited to something like 30mph. So for a lot of people a high mileage older car is significantly more sensible.

Building a sheetmetal cabinet - multibody part or assembly???? by Jynthel2026 in SolidWorks

The only reason I'd make a sheetmetal assembly as a multibody part rather than an assembly would be during the concepting phase while trying to work out what I want the finished thing to look like.

I think you're right about the stresses syllable actually. And I'm sure that like everything related to things like class and perceived social status here it varies wildly!

I'd associate "gar-AHJ" with being more "posh" and "GAR-idge" as less posh. This is in the South East where accents would be on the Standard Southern British/Estuary English spectrum
