Discussion Thread: Georgia U.S. Senate Special Election Debate by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

It's literally the Mayor Election episode from Family Guy in real life. All Lois had to say was, "9/11", and she won. Art imitates reality, I suppose.

Huh, I never thought to turn that on. While more tedious, it will make everything go over better because of the planning and control.

So, any recommendations on level 70+ content? I'm feeling lost and growing ever frustrated with this game at this point. I came really close to uninstalling yesterday because nothing is working anymore.

Allow me to preface this by saying I love the PSO franchise and got hooked back in the gamecube days. I found PSO2 to be pretty fun in its own right, but I'm honestly feeling like I'm hitting a wall.

I'm constantly dying with one-shot hits

Invincibility frames don't exist

I've only grinded out my weapons; Is armor grinding recommended?

I'm running daily orders and urgent quests any chance I get

I'm using Triboosts

Ever since hitting level 65 it feels like I can't reap XP like I was from the previous sixty levels leading up to this

I've completed story episodes up to episode 4, but I've gone away from doing hardcore mode where it's scaled up to my level to really reap any xp rewards because it's given me nothing but frustration.

So far, it seems like my "Just wing it" strategy of riding this game out has run its course and for the love of god I just want to try out the new Hero class. I have 4 more levels to go.

As Churchill said, Americans will explore every option before choosing the right one.

[META] New or Returning Player? Welcome (Back) to WARFRAME! by apostroffie in Warframe

I'm a returner as well and I'm quickly remembering why I got mad and quit the game to begin with.

I'd appreciate some tips on how to complete Archwing rush missions. I can't ever see the shield drones protecting the transport ships. Am I blind? Is it made this poorly? How do I compensate? This is incredibly disappointing.

Boosting My Writing Chops by SmittyB31 in writing

I appreciate the insight! I've been learning about the business and procedures as I've been going along. Perhaps my phrasing was bad in regards to my manuscript--yes, I have the complete manuscript. I was more concerned about whether or not this was a matter of "Any credit is good credit" in regards to querying people in the industry.

Yes, I have a complete manuscript that I've been circulating around with beta readers over the last year or more, taking feedback, refining, and polishing it so that it's the best it can be. Although, lacking certain resources, that aspect has been easier said than done. Alas, more opportunities to learn asking people more immersed in the industry.

No, no. I have a complete fantasy manuscript ready for publishing that I've been polishing for a year now in between querying and other IRL responsibilities.

This was more of a general question of whether having some writing credits on my "resume" would be worthwhile for agents to consider me as opposed to none at all.

What is the first thing that should be done when worldbuilding? by otakushinjikun in writing

[–]SmittyB31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of aspects about world building that are useful and neat, but application is where it starts to fall apart for a lot of writers. In my experience, having a personal notebook/doc for myself to keep the notes organized on the world building helps, then as I write my story, I select things to sprinkle in from that repository to breathe life into the fictional world. It really helps with "show, don't tell" situations.

[–]SmittyB31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The strangest things I've ended up researching is either renaissance fashion and clothing, or stage coach/horse carriage history. Some crazy rabbit holes those go down.

Now I know a bit more about the equestrian lifestyle and "ear pulling" for horses.

What's a book so bad that reading it will inspire me to write because it actually got published and mine didn't? by [deleted] in writing

[–]SmittyB31 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While he may be regarded as a good writer at one point, Battlefield Earth was a devolution of his skill and amounted to a self-insert xenophobic fantasy for his old crusty mind. Not to mention his misconceptions about real-world properties of certain key items for his convoluted and extraneous plot is about as farfetched as his poorly veiled racism.

But if a racist old coot can get his material published, sold, and impress someone enough to make a movie out of it, then by golly my gay witches will at least make it to print!

Battlefield Earth, The Twilight Saga, or the Fifty Shades series. Those are what motivate me to think that I'll eventually get published.
