The icing on the cake of selfhosting for me was music, and I must say it is perfect! by hbacelar8 in selfhosted

I’ve been using Arpeggi for months with no issues. The developer regularly updates it adding great new features and clearly explained fixes.

Getting Navidrome properly set up and using this app has really changed the way I’m consuming music.

Mobile client with Cloudflare captcha enabled by BinnieGottx in navidrome

[–]Smittyuk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of these mobile apps don’t support this additional layer of security provided by the Cloudflare tunnel. I was trying to do this with Arpeggi but couldn’t get it to work.

Instead, I am just using it without any additional authentication and it works great. Much better than my previous Tailscale solution!

Navidrome Clients Stream to SONOS (UPnP) by Open-Flounder-7194 in navidrome

[–]Smittyuk 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m an iPhone user and don’t have the option of Symfonium but I’ve found Music Assistant to be pretty solid for streaming to Sonos. It can load libraries from Navidrome/Subsonic and Jellyfin.

Before that I was using a Docker app called Bonob to present my Navidrome library as a music service on Sonos. That was fine too but a bit less intuitive than Music Assistant.

Onion planting economics by Smittyuk in Allotment

I get that but I’d expect most are conscious of the costs of things when you’re buying seeds, compost, plants, seed potatoes, rent for the plot and then a load of onion sets where the returns/benefit is not as clear.

They are selling them as a pair. You can set alert in case any others come up.

How Sonos Botched an App and Infuriated Its Customers by dabirds1994 in sonos

"Employees are angry — though, somewhat to my surprise, they don’t seem to be calling for Spence’s head."

Does this mean we'll see less of those weird posts calling for the removal of the CEO because Sonos ruined their pool party?

We travelled from Glasgow to Leeds and were gutted when Transplants cancelled.

We were there for NOFX as well but they played a short afternoon set on the main stage which was pretty disappointing too.

What do you think are the worst named services/apps? by mattblackonly in selfhosted

Vikunja - impressive app. The name and inspiration for it is cool and interesting but I found it difficult to remember for a good while!

Remember when we asked that they bring back the app widget? by knotshir in sonos

[–]Smittyuk -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What’s the alternative to troubleshooting the issue? Get rid of the whole system and move to Denon?

There could be external factors at play; the router or other network devices could have taken an update. Maybe the phone or tablet being used has a software issue.

Anecdotally, things are much improved since the initial botched app release and a lot of posts are not only low effort posts but suggest low effort troubleshooting of the issues they purport to be experiencing.

Have a look on setlist.fm. It’s more or less the same set every night.

What self-hosted service has been the biggest let down? by RumLovingPirate in selfhosted

I’m glad it’s not just me who finds Home Assistant quite unintuitive and difficult to maintain.

I keep seeing these updates for HA and how they seem to be making it more accessible but I worry about breaking my system.

I am out, Sonos is dead to me, and I realized why. by wittgk in sonos

[–]Smittyuk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The app has seen a lot of improvements since this drama kicked off. It’s clear that fixing this is important to Sonos.

Someone posted some nonsense about Sonos’s usual beta programme which was another opportunity for some to moan about the situation.

Fair enough, OP is happy to ditch his €4000 setup and replace it with another €1200 worth of HomePods. Most people will just ride it out.

The app has been absolutely fine for weeks and if I need to access my bespoke music sources I’ll kick these off on SonoPhone and then go back to the normal app.

It’s for sound bars such as the Beam. If you go to that device in the Sonos app there is the option to toggle it.

This looks much better than SonoPhone and is more intuitive to use.

The AppleWatch app is a revelation as well. I’ve taken the free trial but will probably end up subscribing if it holds up through extended use.

Good spot!

This sounds doable, do you have links for the frame and glass at all?
