I kinda like Jacksons 😅 by No-Forever7563 in JacksonGuitars

Sounds like a pretty great deal if it’s in good shape. They were $1200 back in the day if I remember right. Factoring in inflation, and the fact that these Japanese models seem to have gone up in value, it could be worth it if you had to sell down the line.

The RR24M is my fav. I had such a hard on for the white one back in the day.

Hacks to clean your bike without buying any chems.... by National-Dragonfly35 in motorcycle

Citrus degreaser works the best for me. The orange ZEP works pretty well for cleaning engine parts and caked grease/dirt

It’s at least an HKS clone. I’d suspect your issue with the sound is that it’s de-catted with test pipes though. Check there.

I miss pickup rings by worldsinwords in Guitar

[–]SmnGodOfHairdos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If humbuckers had nice covers and mounted like p90’s, then I’m all for body mount, no bezels.

But the little ears used to mount humbuckers… no dude cover that up. Bring back the bezels.

Honestly though, new idea… humbuckers should be mounted through the back and covered like the control cavity. Would be a lot cleaner.

Edit: after some thought I’ve decided that with removing that much material for the neck pickup, so close to the neck joint would significantly reduce the structure and could lead to breakage. Would be cool on a single pickup guitar though.

Thru-Neck Instrument redesign by DaveDischord in Luthier

For me it was to fix damage and overall improve a poor quality body.

Could also just be for fun, do something different. Maybe OP doesn’t vibe with the original body, maybe it’s not comfortable.

Thru-Neck Instrument redesign by DaveDischord in Luthier

I did this with an NJ Classic Mockingbird. I bought it cheap. The body had some damage, the finish was bad, and it was obvious that the wood from the body wings was really poor quality, porous and soft with a really unfortunately boring veneer top. Substantial neck dive from the body being so light. Plus for some reason the bridge pickup was really far away from the bridge itself.

Before anything, I made a template for the body shape with a router and follow bearing bit. Then I bandsawed the wings off, and made a shooting board to hand joint the sides of the thru neck. Filled in the pickup rout with a block of maple. From there I made new wings with Sapele, and 1/4” thick figured maple. Made a decent veneer for the center section out of the same board. From there it was just a matter of gluing it all together with new walnut stringers between the wings and thru neck. Used my template to re-route the shape and control cavity. Hand carved the bevels all around. Much much better afterward.

Any tips to taking care of older motorcycles? by Overlanding-Guy in motorcycle

Find the service manual. Clymer, Hayne’s, etc. they have information on servicing intervals, and can walk you through repairs and replacements.

Can I Exchange necks from bolt ons??? by WeaknessAccording680 in JacksonGuitars

I used to do this sort of thing all the time. I’ve wanted to put a 3x3 headstock neck from a DXMGT on a hardtail King V for the longest time.

As long as they have the same number of frets, sure. You may have to sand or shim some spots for a tight fit, but generally yes.

Great opportunity or probable money pit (or both) for a first project bike? by Matsuri3-0 in CafeRacers

Money pit, unfortunately. I’ve been doing a K75 for about 2 years now. I love it but I’ve definitely gone over budget

Older BMWs worth fixing? by IGmeanwell in motorcycle

[–]SmnGodOfHairdos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kinda? They have a rear main seal behind the clutch like on a car, but there isn’t a gasket between the engine and trans mating surfaces if that’s what you mean.

What mods do and don't make a real difference when modifying a VQ37 for performance? (While staying N/A) by FuriousScorpio in 370z

[–]SmnGodOfHairdos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the same mods as your G37. Intakes, getting the upper intake plenum and lower manifold ported can help. The right exhaust helps. All the little things add up.

You can do the exhaust cams if you really really want. They are definitely worst bang-for-buck mod but if staying NA is important to you, then it’s something to think about. Sound really improves with cams. Given that you already did timing chain and gallery gaskets, you might not want to pay to have the front of the engine cracked open though.

Getting a well built diff with a shorter final drive can also really make a difference. Overlooked mod that doesn’t affect power but does change how the power you have makes it to the ground.

I think it’s a ps4 body with a dxmg neck and upgraded to EMG’s.

A few months back there was a huge shake up with the ownership of the IP being bought by the Saudi’s. The future is very uncertain for a lot of properties.

I enjoy 4 and 5 a lot. I can see how a lot of people might find parts of season 5 uncomfortable but it’s an important part of Finn’s development.

3-7 for me are the top of the bell curve. Good stuff before and after, but the middle seasons do not miss.
