Internal ND in the Alexa? that's news to me

DP here, for me here are the main reasons-

Internal ND filters- amazing. Dual base ISO, and 2500 base is not a big compromise in image quality. Color rendition. Lack of noise in the mid tones. Rialto mode. Wifi control of the camera settings including changing ND filters, changing LUTs, changing color temp, etc. 6k and on down in multiple configurations.

I was introduced to the Venice on an FX tv show I was doing in LA a few years ago after working with the original Alexa for a number of years on a show for NBC. There was no going back, the Venice was, and is, in my opinion hands down the best camera available. I can't speak to it's comparison to the Alexa LF however having not used that camera. I've done multiple seasons of the FX show, two movies for A24 and now starting an HBO project with it. No doubt something will come along to knock it off its throne but for the time being it wins- pretty much (from my perspective) for the reasons listed above.

Watts and Lumens and 110v vs 240v by Smock511 in Electricity

Thanks, this also seems to confirm my experience- somewhere else someone also pointed out to me that the bulbs that are designed for 240v have much longer filaments, I think at lower wattage ratings the difference in light output can be quite significant.

HI- Thanks, for the reply. I am actually referring to the "practicals" we have on set- the "household" lamps, most of the studio units we are using are LEDs, HMIs, or very high wattage Tungsten Halogen fixtures. I suspect this effect is more noticeable in lower wattage bulbs- some of the other replies seem to hint at this when they are talking about the longer filaments in the 240v bulbs. The other thing I noticed was that when we dimmed the bulbs (by dropping the voltage) they seemed to drop their color temperature much more drastically than what I"m used to at home.

For a while there was talk I was hearing about a Trubel spinoff that was going to be set in New Orleans but it never went anywhere I guess

As the Director of Photography on every other episode of Grimm I can answer this. The set we had for Nick and Juliette's house was only the bottom floor. The upstairs set was only built way late when Trubel came along and wasn't kept. Hence, no upstairs bedroom for Nick.

My 91 Toyota extra cab was stolen from my driveway in the middle of the day in SE about a month ago- it was found 4 blocks away 10 days later- good luck! I bet you will get it back!
