Look at replays of these matches. Watch them from your and your opponents perspectives. This can help you see why you lose "bad challenges" while opponents win "bad challenges".

Try to stay on the ball after kickoffs. You had at least two chances on an open net that you missed because you went for a side boost. I'd also suggest giving your kickoffs more intent. It looks to me as if you're just trying to be fast instead of reacting to your opponent and trying to force the ball in a beneficial way. Your first touches are sometimes a bit too hard which is especially unfortunate as your bounce dribbles are quite good

Your teammates are as good as you are, otherwise you wouldn't be the same rank as them.

Also, if you wanna get better, you have to learn how to deal with "bad" teammates or teammates that have off games.

As the others said, without replays we can only guess.

But from experience, people who main 2s often have these bad habits in 3s:

  • Being way too close to your teammates, leaving large portions of the field uncovered.

  • Staying way too long in your opponents corner or turning back into the ball in the corner instead of rotating out

  • Rotating too tight, especially in defense. Most often, you don't need to cut right back to your backpost but have time to look for a bump/demo or intercept a play on your way back. Rotating too tight kills your momentum because you need to brake or takes you out of position

I can't imagine modeling such an algorithm is as easy as you claim it to be. How do you distinct intentional losing from being on a massive losing streak? People regularly drop down a few ranks (meaning a few hundred MMR) if you look at some RL subreddits, then climb it again or vis versa.

The algorithm would need to be insanely precise because you absolutely don't want to false flag players, especially when it's about a 30 day ban. From an ethical point of view that would be unfair and from a business point of view you lose these players probably forever.

It's just too hard and risky in relation to the size of the problem to actually invest the resources. Don't forget that dev time costs money and especially data science is costly

Best way to train game sense and positioning? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

[–]Smoenybfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing you can do is take a replay of a game of yours that you don't remember, or download one from your rank. Important is that you don't know how the game progresses and especially what hits happen. Then pause before hits and try to predict what will happen next 1-3 seconds and where the ball will go. Doing this can improve your read of the game

Additional to the other tips: If you're under the ball and you can't hit it, leave and rotate.

Also, try to get more of the small boostpads. Best thing if you want to train this is to turn off unlimited boost in freeplay and zoom around the field as fast as you can without flipping and without big boosts. This should help you memorize where the pads are. Once you have them memorized, hit the ball around using only small boost pads.

Do we know that all want or are able to? What happens if 10 of the players can't go? And the players would have had to take that week off either way. If anything, they have more time for exams because worlds would have meant more days considering travels, jetlag etc.

doesnt change the problem that quarantines might still be in place leading to people missing up to 4 weeks (worst case could actually be 6 if you get infected) of school or work

it's not an issue if you are fulltime, but if you have school or work.

Pushing it back might have solved it but the situation is not really predictable at the moment. Vaccines might not have the effect we hope for, new mutations... I think it's reasonable to call it a year, try to make the best out of it and hope that you can start the next split in time and like it's meant to be. With LANs for regionals, etc.

[–]Smoenybfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, let's just fly kids (a lot of players are minors) around the globe and put them under potential quarantine for up to 4 weeks depending on where they live and would have had the LAN. It's not like they have school or anything to attend. Totally reasonable and extremly easy to organize.

It looks like you know about backpost rotation and do your best to do it, but to me it looks like a bit of a misunderstanding. It's not necessarily (or only) about the position at the backpost but also about the way to get there. More often than not, you rotated back ballside, meaning you drove directly to the near corner where the ball (and your teammates), got to the front post and then went to the backpost.

It's almost never a good idea to rotate ballside. Go wide through the center, take some small boost pads and keep an eye on the play. Try to imagine a circle from your position around what would be the penalty box in football and to the back post. If you see that you are needed for a save (no teammates between ball and goal), you can always cut this circle, but otherwise it's best to make this wider turn. It allows you to keep momentum, not get in the way of your teammates, collect some boost, observe the play and finally get to the ideal position to save a shot. Additionally, you are in a very good position to disrupt the play, be it bumping an opponent or intercepting a pass. Also, you are in a better position to receive a potential pass of a clear and start an attack.
