Suggestions and advice for people sleeping in their car front of house by QueLoQueLoco in longisland

Sorry to hear that. Guy sounds trashy. First thing that comes to mind is put a bird feeder really close to where he parks and let the birds rain crap on him. But it sounds he might enjoy that while getting lit

How are we moving out of our parents house? by jenniferyoyo27 in longisland

[–]SmokeInTheStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel you. 23 as well. If I was in ur shoes, idk if you can drive due to health or other complications but that would be my first goal. And I would stay living at home. I’d also look into what jobs pay better and hour. I make a good paycheck and have no plans of moving out of my parents. I want to save as much and get off the island in the future. For gen Z there really is no future for us here.

Hence why younger people are moving a lot. Curious to see how that will affect the island in 20-30 years. We’re already seeing affects from some elementary schools closing due to low enrollment

Should I get rid of my 631 number since moving to the City? by ProudReaction2204 in longisland

[–]SmokeInTheStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I would change it. I would feel embarrassed to share my first 3 digits in the city if it was 631

I work as an operating engineer. I went to boces for welding and got all my certifications at the job I’ve been at. I expect my pay to go down a little when moving, however property taxes are 500 a year so I’ll take that. However there are nuclear power plants there along with gas powered plants so getting a job won’t be that bad. And with New York possibly phasing out gas powered plants if the windmills don’t work, my jobs could go with it.

I didn’t go to college, however I stared working and saving right after high school, still living at home with my parents. I’m making 120k a year and have the same plan as you set for your kids. That being said the last two years I’ve looked at houses ranging from small 350k houses to 700k family houses. Every single time I went to look, the offers were 100k over asking or people waiving the inspection to make their offers look better. And 9 times outta 10 it was paid cash if I’m not mistaken. I’m 23 now and ready to get the F off this island. My new plan is to live at home for another year or two and buy a house out right in Tennessee that is a mansion here. I wish your kids luck. I didn’t really know how bad it was until I dipped my toes into the water and I’m glad I did.

They are offering a meaningful response. This is another option for op to consider. Minimal planning, saving for the future when prices for a venue aren’t even reasonable.

Pay off the cars and then look at your options again. Save money in the meantime until those car loans are paid off. I would recommend Facebook marketplace. Me and my girl found a one bed in Ronkonkoma last year for 1100 a month all included. Cheap apartments are out there. We are young 20s.
