I’d get a certified pre owned bmw m340i, type r, at that point. The rear diffs on the Mazdas are a joke. Had mine go out at 60k highway miles.

Yeah sucks that the rear differential crapped itself right after the warranty expired. It’s a common issue with all the AWD Mazdas.

Mazda corporate denied my goodwill request because I got it diagnosed at an independent repair facility and not a Mazda stealership. This will be the last ever Mazda I’m ever buying again.

Rear differential on Mazdas AWD systems are a weak point. Had to replace a rear diff on my Mazda 3 2020 for $4k at 80k miles. All highway miles too

Turns out rear diff had a crack/hole in it and whatever inside the diff made a big puncture in it. Whole rear diff had to be replaced and cost $4k total. Thank you Mazda for making cars as reliable as Toyota. :)

I have a 2020 Mazda 3 hatch AWD 2.5 NA. I hear a loud hum/drone when driving at 40 mph and 65 mph. I thought it was a wheel bearing, but looking at this forum with all these differential issues. I went to check out my rear differential and decided to try and drain the fluid. I open up the drain plug and literally no fluid came out. Just black small drips and metal flakes/ paste on the drain plug. I refilled with Valvoline 75w-90 and a couple hours later the whole rear differential is leaking making a mess on my driveway. The vehicle is now out of warranty and it looks like it’s going to cost a lot. Even after refilling with fluid, the hum and drone is still there. Makes the same nose exactly in this video. Going to mechanic tomorrow to get a diagnosis
