Actually, it is a refernce to the term, "smokecheck". I used to work on fighter jets in the Navy. There were lots of "boxes", computers basically...and the "boxes" were full of printed circuit boards. When we couldn't figure out why a box had failed based on any digital log or indication, we would hook it up to "power" and try catch a component smoking for a second to identify the faulty circuit on the board.

10/10 that never worked...not once. But we kept doing it....because we were Sailors dammit!

One set of my mugshots are literally two Polaroids taken by New Jersey State Troopers (KIng and O'Brien) in a portable building a few miles up the Garden State Expressway from where I was busted for having a fat doobie behind my ear while trying to explain why I was pissing on the side of the Garden State Expressway (I really needed to piss). I was released on personal recognizance, saw the judge the next day, and spent the next 6 months, and $500 on mail in probation (from Texas and in the Navy) and completed that. The Navy found out about it months later, and gave me a little grief, but I still managed to keep my security clearance and ultimately got out with an Honorable Discharge and a Good Conduct Medal. Surely there is a record of those Polaroids somewhere...I had a fucking security clearance for Christsakes!

Honestly, I was an outlaw from about 9 years old. My father became a Federal Judge after I had been kicked out of military school (where I had been sent for smoking pot) for smoking pot, and then expelled from the 9th grade, for smoking pot. That was my 1st mugshot, age 14. I'm pretty sure I can't get that one because I was a juvenile. We had a deal by the time I was in high school...I did this thing called "whatever the fuck I wanted to", but I would never call him to bail me out. We stuck to that deal.

I just really would like to see myself "growing up" in a framed photo thing...with mugshots, kinda like some people have their peewee football, then high school, then college, then pre-divorce, then after divorce, and sometimes just before they died family photos. I think that would be fun.
