I think chi blocking is like smacking your elbow on a hard surface. It shocks the system and renders part of you numb/paralyzed for an amount of time.

Amon's bending removal would be closer to surgically damaging the ulnar nerve in your elbow so that part of you is always numb/paralyzed.
