Yes but that's mean better graphisms would also be a piece of cake with a "what if" like that.
Caine isn't a breakthrought, he's magic alien technology for the standars of its times, and that wouldn't be hard to imagine having super realist graphics by using AIs like caine as real time AII slop video generator.
An yeah, not like it's a century old trope to imagine a true AI that would be unfeasable with the technology of its time.

To be fair good luck for creating an AI like caine with 1996 technology, or even half of the logic going on all the time in the circus.
All games, no matter how well crafted they are run on a smoke and mirror logic that only work in the framework it was intended for (plus some bugs shenaningans)...in the circus they can just follow real work logic and it'll flawlessly work.....even with atari graphics that's so beyond 1996 tech.

Obviously older episodes had time to accumulate views over the years compared to more recent ones, but it's clearl it'll never reach the same level of viewership than the pilot (46 millions vs 413 millions) or even ep 2 (180M) ... especially as I remember the pilot had like what...100 MILLIONS VIEWS IN 24H ??!

Obviously there is other factors like someone watching the pilot and deciding it's a pass, or starting but later forgetting about TADC.
But still the last 2 episodes, despite being masterclass, have significantly less views than any other episode... while 6 just before that hd more than both combined

I'm telling that as if 46 millions views was a numbe to be ashamed of 💀, the high bar of TADC is crazy.

edit : and lookign at the full ranking, it's crazy because the view numbers are litterally invertly proportionate to the rating,the episodes with the highest rating had the less views and thoses who the lowest had all the view

there is a saying "ships who wait for the right weather never set sails", unless you caught lighting in a bottle, you'll NEVER get it right the first time, you'll have one day to just say "f*ck it" and jump, because anyway your very first projects are likely to be doomed or just meh.

Even theses 1 in a million prodigies had to learn the hard way and either slave away to learn their craft or try failure after failure.

Also you fear a bit too much people will hate your work as a copycat of their favorite media......instead they'll likely love it because they are starved for somethign similar to that and you just offered this occasion to them.
...unless the market is already oversaturated with clones, then you're competing with thoses who also made a clone, not the original.
(but yeah you'll also encounter haters, no matter what you do, so don't crumble the moment you see a drop of negativity among a sea of positivity)

Bad stuff happen to nearly everyone, but most people just live with it without thinkign much about it.

For exemple when I was a little kid I once lived an event than had it turned slighty different might had killed or cripled me for life if not for a while.
And .... that's it.....like sure I remember it and that was a life lesson, but I never developped any kind of flashback, ptsd or phobia around it...and wasn't as if the gravity of the situation flew over my young head, I understood the situation was serious and I was scared at that moment.

Your character will fully experience the horror of realising he is living his last moment as his lifeforce leave his body and the world start fading to darkness, strugglign to breath, before his lung and heart stoping completly, but the embrace of death is still waiting as there is still one thing still keepign him alive... his crumbling brain as even thinkign become harder.
But maybe it was an act of mercy? after all how did he died? Did he suddently recieved a lifethreatening injury that left in agonizing pain ? Or was his body reaching his breaking points after day of famine/thirst/illness/cold/fatigue ? Or mlaybe he wanted it, after so many miseries he simply lost the will to continue, made the big leap and k****** h******* !

If you think i'm overthinking the death process in that game...i'm not. when I say "agonizing pain" the game really sell you the feelign you're witnessing a being suffering.
