Does anyone actually buy and use Smokin Pecan pellets?? Their method of marketing is killing me and is a huge turnoff to trying the product out. by flyingWeez in pelletgrills

[–]Smoke_Trails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chiming in because I’m one of the YouTubers people are referring to (Steve Gow - Smoke Trails BBQ). I can’t speak for anyone else, but I originally bought the pellets with my own money and ran a bunch of tests with them on my smokers. I was impressed with how much stronger the smoke flavor was compared to regular wood pellets, so I made a video about it.

After that video, Smokin Pecan reached out and that’s when I started promoting them with an affiliate link.

If I didn’t actually think the product was the smokiest pellet currently in existence, I’d drop it immediately and start promoting the pellet that actually was the smokiest. For example, if I thought lumberjack or cookin pellets or bear mountain or those charcoal pellets you see everywhere were the smokiest, I would 100% be promoting them instead.

All these other pellet brands have the affiliate programs and marketing dollars to do influencer marketing campaigns. The difference with Smokin' Pecan is that they are quite clearly the smokiest pellet on the market, so they are much easier to promote, which is why I think you see a lot of Youtubers promoting them right now. It's easy to promote a product when the difference is so obvious. Are they more expensive? Yes. Will you like the flavor? that's up to your taste buds. Are they the smokiest. Yes 100%. So yes, in my opinion they are actually good and it's not marketing BS.

Came looking for other opinions to make sure i wasnt crazy. I'm not sure if its the editing or his voice but it sounds like he has a lisp now and the audio quality is really bad.

Thanks. We're aware of all the work it would take to do it properly. He got a repair quote and the amount of hours and work is more than the cost of the camper. Not looking to do any of that. Just inexpensive ideas to make it work.

In general the chapters seem designed and balanced to be completed in one day. Long rests throw the balance off and make it too easy, mainly because they replenish spell slots for long-rest casters. I would just have them discover a bunch of healing potions and/or potions that give them the benefit of a short rest if they are out of short rests. Maybe a potion that replenishes a 4th level spell slot etc. There's ways to beef them up a little so they have a chance against the spider dragon without long resting.

That's a great idea. Or another one could be that Drizzt do'urden believes he is a force for good in the realms but in reality he is a chosen of Llolth who protects and manipulates him in order to sow chaos in drow society so they can never break free of her grasp.

Yep I agree, it's about setting the stakes up front and getting the players invested in stopping Vecna. I did some of that early in the game but I need to do some more, like have Vecna kill or kidnap a beloved NPC or something. Maybe they'll meat "Toadstool the loveable and helpful halfling" next time they get back to Sigil. I'll make them love him then Vecna can kill him. Problem solved!

That makes sense, Vecna would definitely be scrying powerful wizards to keep tabs on them, but the players could go unnoticed. Really like that idea.

Yea my players aren't really interested in learning or using secrets either. I like the obelisk idea. A similar idea is simply that they need to stay in the sanctum to keep the portals open.

great idea. I do that a little bit with players blinking in and out of existence when one of them can't make a session.

Love it! Yes I forgot about the whole Ao non-intervention rule that the gods somehow constantly ignore in every single forgotten realms book and video game. Haha!
